I was also fairly surprised to see this trade being "accepted" by leafs fans in that linked thread.

what's the deal with him? are the leafs looking to move on to create cap flexibility?

I would do the first deal. Would skip the second deal.

Just use Brodie at 3RD for a year to keep Nemec in Utica.

Then sign Sharangovich.

I haven't heard anything about him, he's typically one of our most reliable d-men (more so in reg. season though)

Colton's 3 year RAPM/WAR/xWAR are significantly better than Sharangovich

But honestly I only did that trade because Brodie+Nemec is a cool bottom pairing and that lets you trade for Colton without the TBL fans getting angy

I would do this but absolutely hate it because I know Colton given 16-18 mpg is a 30+ goal 55-65 point guy all day

Great. But…
1. There are plenty of other metrics that suggest Yegor is better.
2. Signing Yegor doesn’t cost us Bahl
3. We would have more flexibility to sign Yegor to 1-year, lower AAV
4. Yegor is our second best penalty-killer. Colton doesn’t PK.
5. Yegor is from Belarus. Colton is from NJ. It doesn’t matter to me.
6. Yegor can play center
7. Yegor has a bird named, “Ham”

ill bite:
1.) which
2.) certainly true (though I dont think it costs us bahl anyway. cap casualty trades seldom do)
3.) flexibility only matters if you do something with it eventually. not sure what that means for the devils, especially in the very short term
4.) that's debatable at best. EH has him at 7th among forwards/60 for SHD and 6th for xSHD. Not only that, PK stats are one of the most random. Very few players are consistently good PKers (Zacha one of the rare ones) because it's so system-dependent. Yegor's xSHD/60 this year was 0.474. Last year it was -0.742
5.) yeah it doesn't matter at all lol
6.) Ross Colton is listed as a C on ACGM. I have no idea how much he has played it in the NHL but I imagine it's about as much as Sharangovich has. He's listed as a C on some of Dobber's line combos from both this and last season
7.) "thank you bye bye"

He's played a fair amount and is a 52+%face off guy in his career.56.1 this 52.2 last 48.6 his first steady incremental improvement.

there's a small section of our fanbase overreacting to the poor 5 games McCabe-Brodie had against Florida. Brodie has been very good for us, including against Tampa and the entire season.

The only thought to Brodie maybe moving is that Treliving tried trading him to us for Kadri, and when that didn't happen, let him walk the following off-season.

But its certainly not a dumping situation. Brodie is a very good player, and frankly, the Leafs shouldn't be moving him at all.
