Tom Wilson is a one-year rental, with poor history of injuries, who has only ever topped 50 pts once. The price is right, but I am not sure it’s worthwhile for NJD. There are cheaper pests out there.

Wasn’t Tom Wilson pretty stinky last year? Kinda feels like his time to bring back a decent return has come and gone.
Not saying this is a good offer, but I don’t even know what the ask would be at this point for him.

Tom Wilson is worth more than two thirds, rental or not. This isn't close.

He played less than 40 games after missing the first half+ of the season and played great. His value isn't astronomical, but it's certainly more than this.

Tom Wilson is grossly overrated because people hold a high regard to players that try to hurt other players with cheap shots and boneheaded plays. Thankfully karma is starting to bite him with injury issues and hopefully he’ll be out of the game in a couple of seasons because he can’t continue.

Back on topic, need at least 500k more for bratt

He's fine. Just missed most the season with a ACL tear. He'd still get a monster return if he hit the trade block. 20 teams would be bidding for him driving up the price.

So realistically his less than his normal standard of play when he was available could have been hampered by a knee that wasn’t quite right yet even if he was cleared to play.

I will say I doubt he gets a monster return at this point, although I agree it would definitely be more than this. The time to trade him for a monster return was probably a year ago when he had some team control, and didn’t have an ACL tear on his record. His probably won’t be enough to make up for the question marks and lack of team control.

Not going to see me defend this return though. Just more curious about what the ask would be after an injury riddled year where he wasn’t up to his usual standard when playing

Nope. Just be glad when he is out. Something wrong with disliking players who you think brings nothing to the game but running people?

I have to disagree, I feel Clarke is a "decent" prospect. He exploded in the AHL, but hasn't shown anything at the NHL level. A 3rd is a kicker.

Wilson is a very rare find in the NHL. While you can't guarantee health, he would be a game changer in the playoffs. I wouldn't say he's worth a Casey or Holtz, but he's worth more overall.

I could see WSH being interested in a Sharangovich in a deal like this to give them a younger win, but I still think it takes much more. Other teams would be bidding on him too, this isn't down to just NJD or bust.

i wouldn't mind Sharangovich in DC. It would be more, but that would be a good piece coming back

Please, enlighten me on his history of injuries. A lot of people seem to just look at his game totals and assume he's been injured a lot, but the low games played totals are almost entirely from suspensions and shortened seasons.

Wilson has 22 points in 33 games (55 point pace) while returning mid-season from an ACL tear. If anything he was better than his normal standard of play. I don't think teams are going to hold an ACL tear from a flukey knee-on-knee collision against him now that he's got a significant sample size of play showing he's back to 100%.

I mean it's really weird how fans of every team say they wish their team would trade for him, but he's suddenly garbage and only worth two third round picks. Caps aren't moving him anyway.

Canucks decline. We don’t need goaltending, and with the state of our prospect pool we certainly aren’t giving up picks for guys we don’t need, especially when they will be non-tendered and could be had through FA for free if we really wanted them.

Tom Wilson played 33 Games after returning from injury last season and paced for 30 Goals over a full season (the highest pace of his career). No he was not “stinky,” way to be uninformed. His value is significantly more than the OP. Look at the return Jeannot just got and he’s a much worse player than Wilson. Wilson will return a 1st minimum and likely much more. If he plays like he did this season again he’s not a player you trade, at all.

Coming out swinging because someone that doesn’t follow your team is asking a question in good faith is def a choice.

The name Tom Wilson is on the Stanley Cup. Your name is probably spelled wrong on your cup at Starbucks where you cry about Tom Wilson.

I don’t drink Starbucks. Too expensive for a cup of coffee.

You trying too hard because i don’t like Wilson makes it seem like you’re the sad and pathetic one

Also plenty of crappy people and hockey players on the cup, doesn’t make them any better. Good justification though!

He missed most of season with a fairly major knee injury (ACL). He also broke his ankle. Also missed a few games with bruised leg. And broke his wrist. And that is all in last 13 months.

They was he plays, one could expect his body to break down more and more. And the suspensions don’t help either.
