Seattle isn't dealing Wright for a guy with 1 year of term

Toronto trade is brutally lopsided in their favor

Flames should not be adding picks to trades if they are selling, nor should they be buying in general

Overall this team is much worse, now has significantly less future, and lacks direction even more

Every time with you eh? Any trade involving Calgary and TO, it's lopsided in TO's favor. No matter what it is.

In this case a 27 year old point a game player is worth less than scraps and a guy signed until he's 38. Nope, Weegar is a future terrible contract. He's all yours.

Hard no from COL, easiest position to fill in the off season winger. Hardest C. What’s COL center.

Weegar at 6 mil long term is great idc what u say, plus pelts one of our best prospects for a rental in Nylander, yeah no.

Weegar is a great dman and would be a perfect fit for Toronto but his contract probably won’t age well. Pelletier has pedigree but is still unproven. Calgary is getting back a ppg 40g scorer in his prime and also a guy who is more likely than other stars to resign.

Losing Lindholm makes you worse in the short term unless Wright pops immediately but you’ve added 2 near ppg forwards and a future 1C. Defense is still solid but significantly younger. Not sure how the future is worse. You’ve traded Lindholm (28), Backlund (34), Toffolli (31), Weegar (29) for Wright (19), Nylander (27), Konecy (26), Boqvist (22) at the cost of Pelletier and a first. If ownership is dictating that Flames remain competitive taking a small step back but getting much younger and adding more upside is a decent plan.

Weegar's contract is excellent, Calgary will get at minimum 5 good years out of that deal, probably more as the cap will be over 100M by then. He is also unlike Nylander, already signed to a deal making him the more valuable asset alone. You are a Carolina fan you should understand exactly how this feels with all Pesce for Nylander threads on here except Weegar is much closer to Slavin than he is to Pesce. Also the odds of him re-signing are not remotely as high as you seem to think they are, he was born in Calgary but didn't even live there until he was 3. He has pretty much zero connection to the city at all.

Again the Lindholm for Wright trade is going to be declined by Seattle, it's really not different from the Nylander trade. Players 1 year from UFA have value but not that much value. Also your logic is super flawed, you mention how loosing Lindholm makes the team worse but all the players you added to the team (Roslovic, Nylander, Konecny) are UFA's within the next 2 years and in their prime. Why would they ever wait around for the team to "maybe get there eventually" when they can go to a team with a much higher chance of success now?

Pelletier, Dube, 16th OA in a stacked draft, and a 2nd. That's a lot of futures under lots of team control to loose. And going back to my previous point it only emphasizes it more. If anything youve built the perfect recipe to give Montreal the best possible pick they can get from the Monahan trade

If Slavin and Burns were the same age as Hanifin and Anderson I’d probably trade Pesce for Nylander. But I understand why you value him so highly. And even if Nylander doesn’t have a huge connection Calgary is still a great hockey market and at least he’s not American.

Backlund and Toffoli are also UFAs and Konecy and Nylander are big upgrades short and long term. Roslovic can be replaced by Zary if he doesn’t resign. And if you nix the Lindholm trade I don’t think you even take a step back.

Downgrade from Weegar to Boqvist is big but you’d still have a very good young defense. But upgrading from Pelletier, Backlund, Toffoli, Dube to Nylander, Konecy, Roslovic seems worth a mid first and a couple seconds to me.

Yeah gonna have to completely disagree with you on this. Nylander and Konecny are good offensive players but it is pretty well known they are defensive liabilities. Roslovic is an extremely mid player that could even be outproduced by Pelletier this upcoming season, and is currently just a more expensive Dillon Dube. So if we are talking short term then I would call Dube and Roslovic at best a wash, then Konecny and Nylander at most a slight upgrade on Backlund, Toffoli, and Pelletier. Factoring in the huge offset of Weegar to Boqvist and this team is still significantly worse. Not even including the 1st
