Only reason Columbus would consider moving Laine is if they got a 1c back. Maybe there could be a conversation around Laine and 2nd or a prospect like LDBB for Norris, but Columbus really isn’t interested in Cat.

That's all well and good... Cat isn't as good at Tkachuk or Fiala. He's not getting players like Necas who had better seasons and ourproduced him. He's not returning a 44 goal scorer like Nylander who will likely be cheaper against the cap next year anyway, the same can be said for Ehlers, and almost everyone here.

Are we forgetting what Necas produced last year or even what Debrincat had last year or are we going off recency bias as usual and only going off 1 season? Lmao

Stankoven should be a no go. Very similar player to Cat on an entry level contract. Prospects are never a sure thing but keeping Stankoven looks to be the much smarter decision from a cap perspective. Ottawa would have to take back Faksa and Marchment to make a Cat to Dallas deal work

Also, this is Cat's 1st season away from Patrick Kane and he regressed. Not just in overall totals, but his analytics went backwards too. That's a bad sign.

Even if you want to look at Cat's last few years, Tkachuk was traded after a 102 point season. Cat's broken 70 what twice? Fiala had an 85 point season the year he was dealt. Cat had 68. They're not comparable

Ottawa would take back those cap if they’re getting a very valuable player on an ELC. But they’re not taking Marchment and Faksa just to get a late 1st

Would love to see what the Canes can do with ADB, but a return investment on ADB wasn’t earned this year, let alone a net positive. Whether you agree or not, I really don’t care.
