1 year of Nylander on cap we can't afford? Respectfully you shouldn't trade a 1st and Rossi for a player we c wouldn't resign or be able to. Also doubts fleury waives

We have $20M in cap space next after year after this move, we can definitely afford Nylander on an $8-9M extension. Even if Zucc re-signed, I doubt it's much more than $3M.

I don't know if Fleury would waive either, but this was half for fun and half serious and to make this work we'd either have to include him or get the Leafs to retain half on Nylander and dump Goligoski.

Leafs decline, Rossi doesn’t look to be the most promising anymore, I don’t think he adds a ton of value to this package (similar to how Robertson wouldn’t for the Leafs.). No need for Fleury, Foligno as a 3rd line winger brings physicality, but that’s available on the open market. Basically comes down to a First and second for a retained Nylander. Rather have Nylander

I would not want MN to do this deal. That is a lot for Nylander and is he really going to be a C?

I think people judge Rossi too much based on the 21 games he has played in the NHL, in a bottom-six role. He has produced at every level, from the juniors (over 2 PPG) to the AHL (a point-per-game) to the international stage (point-per-game in this year's WC, carrying a weak Austrian squad). And he has been sound defensively in the NHL, as well.

All he needs, in my opinion, is a strong summer and an opportunity to prove himself. The guy is just 21, he oozes skill and is determined. The offensive breakthrough will come. That's why I wouldn't trade him, especially when his stock has taken a hit.
