I can’t wait until DeBrincat gets traded somewhere other than Detroit in real life.

Is this going to be the same thing as the Marcus Petterson to Detroit rumors last year

Sabres have UPL. Why would they want another UPL. Never mind paying a 2nd round pick for another backup goalie.

That’s fine I’m just made this based off the rumours I’ve heard. It’s all in good fun.

Maybe not a 2nd but it’s definitely more than that. Forsberg is a very capable goalie when healthy. Ottawa just needs some stability hence the vemelka trade.

DeBrincat to Arizona for Keller might work better in Ottawa's favor, especially if the 9OA really is untouchable as mentioned above

Yes I thought that originally too but I just assume that arizona would sooner have draft picks and prospects compared to ADB

Agreed. Plus we are probably going with Levi and either upl or a much better vet. Adams either aims higher or just rolls out upl. Even if the price was a 4th, it would require adams to move out or bury upl and/or comrie, the juice doesn't seem to be worth the squeeze here.

He’s worth maybe a 4th or 5th. He’s had one good season where he was over backup level production and starts. It was 21/22. Every other year he’s been getting back up starts and hasn’t produced. If you wouldn’t want him, why would Buffalo who’s got basically the same in Comrie already

If Detroit offers 9, they should be going after Keller themselves and not Cat.

For Detroit, they're not going to want to trade their 9th OA pick so :

Berggren + 2nd

or

Kubalik + 1st

Also :

- Don't sign Domi and Hathaway, keep Forsberg and Joseph. Sogaard needs to develop more in the AHL

- No way I trade Brannstrom for a 2nd too. I keep him and build his value. He's good at hockey

Really? Because I wouldn't trade him for a 2nd...

He was a top-10 goalie in 2021-22 and behind a team with below NHL level hockey systems. He was progressively getting in the same groove this season but got injured.

Gonna ignore all the other data points in his 9 year only 130 NHL game history huh? Even with his low end starter type season last year, he still has a 3.08 GAA and .908 s% with a 48-68 W/L split. That’s great that you like him, he’s not worth a second.

What data points? You mean what was written above? Yeah that was not directed to you...

SV% is almost useless without context if you're trying to evaluate a goalie. He only had 1 season before coming to Ottawa and had 0.908 in Chicago who didn't have great defensive systems and personnel too

He has 0.911 in Ottawa and I can assure you that it's worth at the VERY LEAST 0.010 more on the average NHL team defense. (so 0.921)

Coming from a goalie for 30+ years

Oh and by the way, I'm not a blind homer. For example, I called Andrew Hammond a "flash in the pan" in the midst of his insane run in 2015. He had a 20-1-2 record and a 0.941 SV%

Forsberg is way better. Anyway, not trading him for a 4th or even a 2nd for that matter, so moot point.

Yes all the other data points before a breakout year, in which he reverted back. That’s great, keep him. No GM would send a second for him, he’s not a game changer.

By the way, a .921 with a goalie at least playing 35 games for his team would be a top 3 saves percentage for the last 5 years. Either he’s the best kept secret in the NHL, or he’s not quite as good as you think. Have the last word here, no one in their right mind would give up more than a 2nd that you’ve said 3 times already for a guy who’s had one good 45 game run, and the rest of his NHL games are middle to lower backup level.

Obviously, he wouldn't be 0.921 SV% every season but his 2021-22 was very close to Vezina level. He was tied with Demko in GSAA too.

Anyway, it's also a matter of evaluating ability. I'm not saying he is Sorokin out there but he's quality and there is absolutely no reason to trade him for a pick.

The average fan has no idea how to evaluate goalies, speaking for decades of experience playing, watching, reading. Hockey is the only sport I follow, wouldn't have time for other sports.

Oh and I just realized that I forgot to mention 1 very important point in the previous post... Not rare to see "late bloomers" with goalies.

Idk about the pick simply being unavailable but it’s likely not something we’re actively shopping nor would it be a pick we’d entertain giving up for Alex DeBrincat.

Like I said in the other post, the only thing I'd move 9OA (within reason, obviously if someone overpaid for 9OA, you gotta take it) for would be as a bigger package to get us into the top 5... even if value is worth 9OA, I'd rather roll the dice on who will be there, this draft is just too good...
