This is a VERY bad idea for the Oilers.
Why should Edmonton pay a first- and second-round draft pick to dump Campbell NOW? This situation isn't anywhere close to the circumstances surrounding yesterday's Los Angeles cap dump, because as you acknowledge, the Oilers' need for cap space doesn't become acute until the summer of 2025.
Exchanging Campbell for Granlund has some merit for the Oilers for the reason you mention, and I'm willing to concede that maybe Edmonton should contribute something to reflect the marginal benefit the swap has for the Oilers (namely, solving what might not be a problem down the road), but the difference in value between Yamamoto and DeSmith (including term) should cover that discrepancy, if it exists.
