Habs offseason now Caufield is extended 8 years

Créé par: JeffGorton

Description
Now we know Caufield is staying for 8 seasons. That gives the Habs the ability to take their time. First move would be to draft Michkov at 5. The Habs will have until he comes to NA to build the rest of the core. All that would be missing is an Elite RHD, Starting goalie if Monty isnt it and an Upgrade on C so the Habs can move Suzuki to the wing. (Where is playstyle would be best. Kinda like a poor mans Marner but with playoff pedigree)

So the next 3 years should be focused on acquiring as many top 60 picks as possible. By either trading players on the team who arent apart of the window or taking bad contracts

Détails additionnels:
Leafs get the Grit and playoff performer while getting rid of an awful contract. They need to go all out this season and with the cap only going up by 1m, moving bad cap will be expensive

And for those who say Anderson is a cap dump. Find me a 20+ goal scoring winger with his size and speed for under 5.5 million. All the FA options are either not as good or will cost more and for longer term.

Habs buyout Murray immediately after trade

It's actually just basic logic, if the Habs wouldn't accept a 1st round for Anderson why would they accept it for him in a deal that includes another player worth his contract.

Also find it funny people think Anderson isn't worth a 1st when we have literally seen so many examples of big useless players going for 1st round picks. Size is always a desirable asset in the NHL and it's Anderson's main positive

its much much funnier that habs fans and only habs fans for that matter, think hes not a cap dump, andersons a big usless player making 5.5 for the next 4 years though, his contract is baaaadd

You're right. Bertuzzi is better.

Anderson is a career 35 point guy. You cannot justify $5.5 million for 3rd line numbers. No way, no how, no doing.

Bertuzzi conversely, runs 45-50 points, making him much more a 2nd liner than Anderson ever will be. I can also point out his 30 goal season.

I love Anderson's game. But there is absolutely no way you are going to convince me he is or ever was worth $5.5 million. One of thr worst contracts in the NHL.

he hits though, he hits! hes worth more than a first!

I love Anderson's game. Don't get me wrong. But $5.5 million for 35 points? Kerfoot as a Leaf produced similar numbers...... so Habs fans are going to try and sell me on 2 hits a game being worth an additional $2 million a year? Noooooooooooooo.

Anderson should be PP ju-ju. Size, front of bet presence, garbage goals. Yet, he has 1 (yes 1!) 20 goal season to his name.

Noooooooooooooo.

Sources from outside of montreal? Any sources on who the team was who offered it?

Literally all the sources I named are outside MTL and it's ranged from Calgary last year instead of Toffoli to the Islanders at the draft last year instead of Romanov to a couple contenders at this year's TDL

Those were the rumors, only thing that was confirmed by just about every insider that Hughes turned down a 1st rounder for Anderson.

Got it, so rumours and speculation on what teams MIGHT do, and something that came out of montreal without a specified team or any other details on what was involved in the trade if it even existed (almost certainly retention)

His value is whatever other GMs offer for him, which has been a 1st round pick, just like I have been saying this entire time. Not a hard concept to follow, Montreal gets offered a 1st they say no, that equals that MTL values him more than a lone 1st.

And this has been confirmed from multiple sources that I listed before.

Just cope harder man, I literally tell you that all these experts heard Hughes report, went and confirmed it and now you're arguing with me about it. I'm not on the inside, none of us are but typically when a GM says something and then it gets backed up by multiple sources then it tends to be true.

Calgary and Ottawa

Calgary was willing to send their 2023 1st and Ottawa was the 7th pick in 2022 for Anderson and 26th but CAT became available out of nowhere

Again, source? Because anderson would put Calgary 3 mill over the cap, with only a 20 man roster.

the way habs fans value anderson is truly sickening

Like how our value for Chiarot was sickening? Habs fans remember rival fans saying
Hes a cap dump
No one will pay over a 4th for him
Hes a bum so no gm would ever give up value for him

He got us a 1st and then he got signed by so callled 'Wonder" gm Yzerman for 4 years at 4.75m.

This is the thing about Habs sources. They are either easily proven wrong or they are bang on. Like Tony Mariano, said something stupid about Michkov, got told off immediately. He knew the Caufield contract was gonna be under Suzuki's deal a week before he got extended. So if something like Anderson's value hasnt been disproven yet, theres a better chance than not its right

several habs fans have said that he is worth his contract, he is not, not up for debate

chiarot was a rental at like 3m, anderson has 5.5 cap hit for 4 more years

Josh Anderson has 14 points in 43 playoffs games. He is not a playoff performer. Leafs are not paying him $5.5 for the foreseeable future.

the only person that has said hes been offered a first is kent hughes, hes driving up the cost of his player, hes smart, any insider got that info from hughes any gm that offered that should never work in the nhl again, hes a cap dump whether your bias habs glasses will let you see that or not, 5.5 m for a 3rd liner who cant crack 40 points, this trades a joke

You do know Hughes never said he was offered a first for Anderson. This report came from Friedman, Lebrun and other popular reporter
