They shouldn't. They desperately need a skilled top 6 center. A 1st is a price for one. Maybe Caps eat a little of his contract.

Like the trades but pass on all the UFAs. Caps have kids that need playing time.

'23 1st for Kuzy with retention. 6th round pick goes somewhere else for more retention. Newhook stays in COL. Otherwise its a nonstarter for the Avs.

Chicago declines. They have enough journeyman forwards and won't trade a 3rd pick for another one that has been waived several times in his career.

You're not getting a 3rd for a guy that's always on waivers.

COL laughs at that. They’d run Newhook out uncontested as the 2C before trading him and a 1st for Kuzy and his almost $8M cap hit. Kuzy and his questionable work ethic, habits and defense isn’t a fit in COL especially at almost $8M. I’d just give ROR a 3x8 before trading anything for Kuz

That'd be fine with me. Don't think Caps would have a need for Newhook anyways.

And even that is an overpay!
