Sorry, Habs aren't retaining on Anderson or trading him to the Leafs just to face him 4+ times a year.

Why do people think Murray will be placed on LTIR? He was healthy during the end of playoffs. Guy gets injuried often but are we expecting a season ending injury while trianing during the off season lol. They'll likely have to trade him.

For the trade, I can't see MTL holding back almost 3 mill for four years and trading a good player. Would take an unreasonable amount of value to get them to do that.

I understand your perspective, but look at that offer.

Jarnkrok is a good 3rd line player who outscored Anderson last season at a 2.1M cap hit
Robertson is a smaller player but he has a killer shot
28 OA pick is gonna get a good asset this draft
Voit had a 105 point season in the OHL this season, by comparison Beck had 66 points and Mesar had 51...

Habs take this deal and run!

Why do people think a team is going to give assets for this guy? He is at the very least a cap dump, possibly even having to pay to ged rid of him

Not really no
Robertson is no longer waiver exempt after next year
His development has been so botched i dont see MTL fixing his situation
I mean DAL makes total sense and they'd pay for the cap relief a gamble like Robertson provides.

But MTL isnt interested if Rhett Pitlick's clone is the main center piece. Really they both play Paul Byrons style of Hockey.
That BOS pick in 28th OA not top 20. If it was Top 20 we'd talk then maybe
But even then thats 4 years at 50% RS meaning 4 TDL we're limited in our ability to make moves.
Two 5'9 players just isnt enough when their peers on MTL's side are Superior.
I mean i'd take Farrell > Robertson and Mesar>Voit

They watch him destroy teams like Toronto.
If its an End to End shooting Battle he's the guy you want.
If its a defensive shut down games you're boned cause he's of no use.
Its a double edged sword

That said why people want Anderson regardless of his cap is Power Forwards like him are rare because they dont last long .
People who play his style get overpaid as even Maroon did before Prioritizing a Cup >Money taking less and winning 3 cups straight on 2 teams i believe.
Fact is Dubas came around to two GMs in MTL about Anderson as did multiple others including NJD , NYI and EDM before signing Kane.
Thos were just the serious offers consistently talked about but none predicted MTL making a profit or taking a loss . Just a something like Coleman and a 2nd for Anderson and a 3rd type deals

I mean that didnt stop every MTL writer from writing articles claiming Anderson could get a 1st for NJD until Meier was signed.
Against good teams whether he scores or not he sets the pace and the tone

He has a career 14 points in 44 playoff games. And you are right, he is a defensive liability. I watched every game in the habs run, he had great 10 minute segements where he looked unstoppable but that seemed to be once every 3 games and other than that he has invisible. It was Suzuki and Caufield carrying the habs offence.

I don't know where you read Dubas made offers for Anderson, maybe inquired but probably hung up the phone if they wanted a return like you are proposing.

And the end of the day there may be a GM that takes a shot on him, but more than likley the return will be underwhelming due to his lack of consistency and cap hit.

Clearly not as you missed the fact that in general he shows up vs TML
I mean is he making Marner money ? No
Hence us not expecting that much from him
He's Colemen with a 750k bump in salary and he's done just about as much in a similar role

What you'll notice here is Andersons Best games are vs Tough Teams who play Physical
His worst are vs less teams with more Defense Based Systems
Come playoffs his 4 hit a game average with 5 goals and 2 GWG including
1 GWG was from a 2 goal night vs TBL in our only win to avoid getting Swept.
When everyone else was deflated and injured with the effects starting to show as the Adrenaline was dying off
It was Anderson who was refusing to give in to the point Toffoli was Demoted from 1st line and Anderson Promoted.

In TML he did what he was asked, Got into Marners his old Linemates head and lived there. Marner was useless that run to the point i think Byron scored more lol
So you say he wasnt a Factor , i say tell his buddy Marner that as he was all over him like a fat kid on cake while Gally/Danault 2v1 Matthews after we demoted then benched Tatar by game 5

Hes from Toronto, and often plays harder against them - Toronto isn't going to pay a premium for him vecause he plays well just against them.

This has nothing to don with marner (who I thuik the leafs should move). Its that Anderson simply does not have the market value you are proposing.
