Can't see the Devils trading McLeod. They need him at 4C more than they need an extra winger.

Duhaime isnt getting 1M, also we will probably end up resigning Shaw for around league minimum too, and he is cheaper than McLeod, you probably want more cap room for a 21 man roster, and I doubt Ohgren is NHL ready this year, Beckman makes much more sense in that spot, also JEEK would center Boldy-Jojo, the only reason Gaudreau did was because JEEK was injured

Spurgeon isn't waiving. Spurgeon is better than that guy.

Man I would love Spurgeon, but I rather keep Ekholm as he fits nicely with the oilers. If Spurgeon didn’t make so much, I would entertain an offer, but we can’t afford his contract long term.

Unless the RFA negotiations become unrealistic, he's a high quality 4C, who may still have upside. Excellent skater, with size, who provides elite face off skills and solid PK ability. That's hard to beat in for a 4C on a reasonable deal.

But they are paying him $2m here, it's not like their offer is blowing anything the Devils can do out of the water.

Do you know him and he has told you this. His Modified starts next year so maybe he waives a year early if BG told him he is getting traded next year

Mcleod fills two huge needs and is worth it to MN to pay him over Shaw

All these scenerios in every post arent most likely to happen. But atleast no one has said these are one sided so I call it a win for me

In what way, he’s not an offensive producer, we are already physical, and an above average pk team, idk his game but i dont see how a $2M player who fits the same sort of role that the 800k player is any better, the only different thing he may bring is speed but the wild have that in Duhaime, and face off ability, but still Shaw as a great PK player but the only major concern is injury, i would still take a player thats $1M cheaper that plays essentially the same role, especially with the cap situation…

But if you read above, I didn't say it was unfair. I just said it wouldn't make sense to get another winger for a center I need.

You say that guy like Ekholm is some nobody, but you’re not wrong, Spurgeon is never gonna waive and Guerin isnt gonna trade him because of the leadership role

I agree. Mcleod is exactly what MN needs so I thought that would be a place to start. What is NJ looking for this offseason anyway. I presume just signing their own guys?

How many leadership role players do you need in one lockerrom? 22?

I am tired of the leadership excuse for not moving guys who havent been out of the first round in like 10 years.

I know, I was just saying even though it may not make sense for yoir team, no one has said values are way off. Thats a win on this site 😉

Curious how far has his leadership taken us? 1st round exit every year he has worn the C? He may waive if BG doesnt think he is the right leader and puts pressure on him that he is gone next year anyway

1. Sign big RFAs (Bratt, Meier, etc)

2. Add veteran 3C (most likely option is extending Haula)

3. Add veteran dman if Graves and Seveson walk. Would want someone with 1-2 years, veteran, steady presence to partner with Luke Hughes. Nemec will likely spent one more year in AHL.

4. Replace Tatar - will likely opt for another veteran.

5. Maybe replace Miles Wood (4LW forechecking line)....Nolan Foote is the likely in-house candidate

6. Maybe add Blackwood replacement. A backup or #3 that could join Daws in Utica.
