I technically would agree - is this more of a Bedard situation at 3, where you aren't moving them for anyone other than McDavid or Draisaitl, or would there be a possibility of an offer?

Why not? i think it certainly is. You're not only getting 4 players who would be on your opening night roster, each and everyone of them fill a need. two dmen who can actually defend, one who can play on Muzzin's vacated line and another 3rd pairing guy who will take the place of Liljegren. Not to mention a guy who averages 24+ mins a night who has almost half their salary retained.

TK you can instantly plug in to your top 6 and you wouldn't crater there in terms of points, TK was a point per game player this year and was on pace for 40 goals.

And Allison has tremendous potential he just seems to have bad luck with injuries and didn't really latch on to Torts system. He showed plenty of flashes with AV and plays a solid NHL game.

Plus a 1st round pick and 2mm+ of cap space, which is the like gold to TOR, or at least it should be.

I think the value is right on to be honest.

I want Michkov. I would not move the pick. I think management wants carlsson. I think I have seen reports that they would not move the pick unless it was for a center 25 or younger with 5+ years of control or something (so they likely are unwilling to take an offer)

Gotcha. I want Michkov too, it's crazy to me that you would pass on him for anyone other than Bedard and Fantilli, even though I think talent wise Michkov is up there with Bedard. I think Fantilli will grow to be a little bit of a better version than Eichel, which ain't too shabby.

If he does fall to the Flyers, it would fit our window perfectly. Even if it takes him more than his current 3 year contract and they decide to extend it another year or two, I would be content knowing he's in the cupboard.

How come others on here think its a good deal for them?

There's another thread that has Provy and TK for Marner and Liljegren. All i did here was add two solid value players and a first round pick, for just Niemela.

I seem to think people would think this is a fair and good trade to make. Plus the cap space gained is so necessary for you guys to re-sign some of your FA's.

You don’t get better trading your best players. You don’t get better trading 26 year old Selke finalists with 99 points.

Other fans are impatient. Took MacKinnon 9 years to win a cup. Took Stamkos 12 and he played 1 game that postseason. McDavid hasn’t won. Dri hasn’t won. Barkov hasn’t won one. Tkachuk. Aho. Pasternak. Robertson. Peterson. hughes. The list of guys that haven’t won a cup or took longer than 7 years to win is long.

The leafs biggest need isn’t “guys who can actually defend” as the leafs defensively had prettt good numbers through the regular season and post season. Provorov would jump in and be useful, konecny is an ok top 6 guy.

Wade Allison and Nick Seeler aren’t cracking the roster. Leafs have Wade Allison’s already in Holmberg, Abbruzzese and Robertson if they wanted.

Nick Seeler wouldnt make it as hed’d be behind Rielly, McCabe. Brodie, Gio and in this scenario Provorv. And quite frankly there are free agents much better than him available if need be.

Marners value is tremendous as an over a point per game player over his entire career and is a top 3 defensive forward in the NHL. He alone is costing you provorov and konecny.

Ther pretty much leaves us with Niemala and Liljegren for a first. Liljegren probably worth a 2nd rounder himself and Niemela is the leafs highest ranked blue line prospect. That doesn’t add up to the 20 somethingth pick of this draft

Even if it isn't Bedard, ending up with Carlsson, Smith (who, it needs to be reminded are still very, very good prospectsi) or (moonshot) Fantilli, is huge for CBJ, who have more or less never had a true 1C. Frankly, I don't think PHI has any roster players or prospects that are worth making the trade for.

Even humoring it, a PHI trade package would likely need to be '23 1st, '24 1st, Hayes (50% retained), possibly Gauthier, and more. PHI's prospect pool is not particularly enticing, so not sure how much Gauthier even moves the needle. Even then, more W prospects jsut aren't what CBJ need. There frankly just isn't much a fit.

The only way CBJ move 3OA is if Matthews or Petersson decide they'd like to come to Columbus and C their top line for the next decade+.

I hear ya, was just curious about it. I know Jarmo usually makes other GM's look stupid so if he was targeting someone else, thinks someone would drop, wasn't high on Carlsson or Michkov, etc., etc,

Thanks!

These are bad trades my man, I like a lot of ur opinions but these are terrible for Philly. Massive overpay to CBJ and I don’t think Toronto or Philly are good trade partners because they are in such a different stages that neither can really help the other

With the TOR trade, I didn't want to hear the "You're not getting a 100 point Selke guy for that" crowd, ya know? I think TK Provy retained, and a 1st are the start there. I also feel like Wade Allison is kind of in purgatory on this team. Didn't seem to take to Torts system well, seems to always be injured or a step behind. And seeler, is a good 3rd pairing guy, but nothing we couldn't live without. We also get a solid D prospect and another D man that could also do with a change of scenery and less responsibility. Still, that said, I think maybe i could lose the retained amount or even reduce that 1st to a couple 3rds or a 3rd and the 2nd. If we kept all 1st rounders I think it would be more even. Conversely, TOR isn't trading Marner without getting a 1st I would assume. And also assuming FLA will be good again next year, that pick is a 25-32 pick, so not the worst thing to lose.

The CLB trade I did mention it's prob an overpay, because I'm assuming that Carlsson is a slam dunk home run for CLB and they would really have to be enticed to move the pick. Obv we'd be switching our first to move up, moving hayes clears space, maybe could lower the retention, and if we stick with Hart, Ersson is a little redundant. I know he had a good showing, but his value may never be higher because of how big the question mark is with him. We also have Sandstrom and Feditov (who we hopefully see again in a few years, maybe he can defect ala Mogilny, and we also have that guy Kolosov who by all accounts looks solid. If it's Hart's net for the next 10 years, I would be fine making this trade off. Adding in a 3rd for Bean because i've always liked his game and having him on a third pairing but being able to move him up and down to account for injuries or other things, I think would behoove us to do for cheap.

That's just my thinking though.
