You clearly don’t know how much it takes to dump almost 5m of cap if you think Montreal excepts that, it’s much more then just a pick swap. And before you point to the Mrazek trade, it was a consensually AWFUL trade for Chicago as the excepted rate is something like the Zach Kassian dump. Pick swap + 2nd + 3rd, and that was for almost 2 mil less cap to dump.

You're not getting rid of Murray's contract for that price. I know it's made to be similar to the Mrazek deal to Chicago, but Chicago traded for him to become the starter there. Murray wouldn't be the starter on the Habs, or for any other team at this point. You're probably looking at a 1st, straight-up, to get rid of that contract. But I assume the Leafs will keep him, and put him on LTIR for the year.
