I feel Ross Colton is going to be a constant story until something happens there. It's Johnny Hockey super-lite, except that he WAS a Devils fan beyond just being from NJ (and a far lesser impact player). TB may have a hard time signing him, but I could see the Devils sending cheaper pieces to give TB depth, I just don't think Tyce would be of much value, although I could see Smith having something. Maybe Boqvist as an upgrade on Tyce. That will be fun to watch as it would be a fun story and he does fit a need. It'll be a lot of haggling with TB fans holding out for more.

That's all fans on this site isn't it wink Even if he wasn't from NJ I think this makes a lot of sense from a needs perspective (playoff experience, depth scoring, etc) plus Tampa basically has to trade him or someone else given their cap situation and I don't think they'd trade Jeannot given the sunken cost fallacy of how much they traded out for him. Tampa has no leverage here but yeah I think they'd want league min contracts back. Those Yegor+ for Colton trades don't make any sense cap-wise.

No, I get what the site is, and Colton is one of the very few guys I see involved in trades either way I can see an open discussion over. It's not like the Quinn Hughes ones where it's become an obnoxious story line to combine the brothers. Even if Colton wasn't from NJ, he'd be a fit in the bottom 6 and kind of what the Devils need....someone who can be in the dirty areas and be a pain in the arse come the playoffs. He's an upgrade on Miles Wood. Him having been a Devils fan as a kid is a nice bonus.

I like Sherangovich, just don't think we spend that 2nd on him. Id be more inclined to consider our 3rd at this point but he is probably worth that 2nd and a team in a different position would probably pull the trigger on that.

Other than Colton’s connection to NJ…has there been any reason we have seen him in so many of these? Has TBL indicated they may not bring him back?

Tampa's 2nd is in the back half of the second round, plus Chicago has 4 2nds this draft so I think it's a fair price. Sharangovich was a 25 goal scorer next to Hughes last season and I can see him doing the same or even better with Bedard next season and top 6 ice time. He's a great complement to a superstar but he just lost his spot this season and had a difficult time adjusting.

Tampa has 1.6 mil of cap space for next year, and they have to resign Jeannot, Colton, and fill out the rest of their roster (backup goalie, depth forwards, etc). Most of their cap is tied up long term (except Stamkos and Hedman who they're not trading), so I don't see how they'd be able to resign both Jeannot and Colton, and as I mentioned earlier they gave up a crazy package for Jeannot so I see Colton as the odd man out and I think the Devs should take advantage of this situation regardless of the NJ connection.

There is absolutely nothing TBs interested in with that TB is locked in Rd prospects and younger NHL players. Besides that Walsh doesn't fit TBs mold of defensenan. Agree disagree with the idea TB likes big guys .5'11" 180 yeah no.
Thompson is whatever we have a whole lot of that already in minors. Picks are pretty meaningless to TB.

No they don't just have 1.6 add 6.875 for Seabrook. This 💩offer doesn't come close

Go open a TB 23/24 ACGM this is what you get making an 83.5 cap limit
16
$83,500,000
$75,025,000
$0
$0
$8,475,000
So you don't have the leverage you thought you did . TB gets 30 better offers if Colton is available.

On the cap point, you're right -- forgot about the Seabrook contract. Regardless tho, you gotta remember that Tampa only has a roster size of 16 for next season, and even if they filled every spot other than Colton and Jeannot with league min contracts, they'd still only have 4.6 mil to resign both of them in an absolute best case which I don't think can get done.

TB doesn't go 23 they go 22 or 21 as they have over the last several seasons. That offer doesn't do it even if they trade him Bahl +another NHL ready ELC or cheap contract

Sherangovich...I do this trade if he is willing to sign a 4 or 5 year deal in the 2.5-3 per range. If he wants to try to get paid based on his 46 point season using arbitration where you are going to be fighting over his contract every Summer until he is a UFA, then hard pass. I'm not afraid of a little longer contract in the hope he out preforms the back half (front half or the deal the cap don't matter much to the Hawks), and in the absolute worst case you either bury him or are buying out a favorable contract because of his age and the cap likely increasing a decent amount in the nexy few years making the impact negligible.

Its not that I don't agree, Its just I think that pick is likely going to get used to trade up. Id also want to know what his next contract looks like before moving a 2nd.
