People seem to forget that Johnson will become an UFA in mid-August if he's not signed - so why would any team surrender an asset rather than wait until then to see if he'd sign with them, especially the Kings or Ducks who have the southern California connection rumored to be one of Johnson's preferences?



Of course they would because it amounts to a free handout by Buffalo - but none of those players are cap dumps the Sabres will give away out of desperation.

As mediocre as Comrie was, he's no worse than Campbell and at 20% of the cost. To propose the Sabres taking on the full cap hit of Campbell and keep 50% of Comrie's hit on top of it is ludicrous.
