These keep getting worse and worse. Hanafin isn't worth Nylander. You don't trade a point a game player for a 2nd pair defenceman.

Would love to have Marner, but he hurts the Canes cap situation a lot more than he helps the roster.

I don't see how Toronto will be able to resign Marner, Matthews and Nylander in a span of 2 years and still dress a competitive team.

Hanifin was only a 2nd pairing d in Calgary because Weegar moved onto Anderson's line. His play down the stretch was phenomenal. Almost every player on the flames had an abhorrent drop in production last year.

I'd do Hanifin, and Dube for Nylander and Lafferty.

Marner was the best player on the team this season, and arguably the best winger in the league. 1 point away from 100 while also being one of the best forwards in the league at defense. He shouldn't be traded, but if he is, it should be for more than a 2nd liner, a 1 first, and a 2nd. Especially when the 1st and 2nd are both going to be late in the round. Kane is not the player he used to be, so he's a major downgrade.

If the core 4 needs change, which I don't think it does, Nylander is the one to go. I don't mind that Hanafin move, although I think either Tanev or Weegar would be a better return for the team's needs.

People were saying the same thing when they originally signed yet here we are remaining competitive year after year. The increases in their cap hit won't even matter once you take into account Tavares' contract ending at the end of 2025 as well as the projected increase of the salary cap.

Hard pass - watching Marner answer questions to the Toronto media is too good of a watch to pass up.

That's only an increase of 5 Million over 2 years. The 5 players that comprise your core are 49.7% of the cap but are only 21.7% of the roster. I'm not saying that the core can't be kept in tact. I'm just saying that it becomes increasingly harder to have a contending supporting cast.

If it wasn't for the LTIR loophole Tampa would have already had to break up its core.

Hanifin has been 1LD since Giordano left

Weegar only took over towards the end of the season, since he & Andersson were solid together

Probably better to offer Tanev & Toffoli

If they’ll truly want Hanifin. Of still offer Toffoli instead of Dube, since Nylander would replace Toffoli on the Top Line and Dube is more affordable and ready to break out himself

This is literally exactly what you guys have been saying since JT was signed. They won't be able to keep Nylander, they did. They can't afford Matthews, they did. That means Marner is gone, nope. Rielly will hit the market. Wrong again.

You keep saying it can't work and keeps working. Dubas and Pridham keep finding really good value contracts in the bargain bin.

You think you'd get sick of being proven wrong.

That's so one sided it's ridiculous. Here's the reality of Calgary. You're old and you don't score enough. You have major long term money tied up to aging past their prime players and no coach or GM. Getting Nylander would be a major benefit to your team and window. Trying to get him for 2 older lesser players is just blatantly one sided.

Man, there’s something wrong with you. You’re very bothered and intolerant of other peoples opinions and come across as hateful and ANTI-Calgary Flames

It’s for one friggin year. Tanev is one of the best shut down dmen in the league and Toffoli Scored 34 Goals and 73 Points Last Season, just 6G and 14PTS less than Nylander did

You think they’re washed up all of a sudden and will plummet next season!? Get a grip of reality already
