You're not getting out Jeff Carter's contract without paying a price. This isn't a donation, pay up and eat 50% if you want to dump him. Minimum Leafs will be looking for is a 2nd round pick attached

Well first, I did eat 50% (basically). Second, he is a 10 goal scorer who analytics says should have scored around 15. He is great at faceoffs but is slower and doesn't forecheck. For 1.6MM that's a fine player. No one would eat 50% AND attach a pick, let alone a second. Tor needs a 4th C after ROR leaves.

I think Tor would. His numbers weren't terrible. He just doesn't forecheck and has slowed down. He still has a great shot and wins faceoffs at a top ten in the NHL level.

That package you're offering for Saros but with Granlund at full freight instead of Petry for Hellebuyck, could be some other slight alterations and the Pens could negotiate an extension with Helle.

Can't see the Pens doing that but it'd be great for the Jets.

Yeah it would be good for the Jets because it would be a massive overpay. Hellebuyck is worth much less than Saros. Honestly, I don't see Hellebuyck as much better than Jarry.

You said “incoming too much for Saros comments” in another thread, but you’re attempting to move the kitchen sink for him in this thread.

It must be since I said "incoming not enough for Saros" not "too much for Saros".

If TB were willing to give Rutta that money he'd be wearing a bolt already. Do you really think he left TB for the same money? Really??

No. But teams don't sign guys then miss them a year or two later and are interested in a reunion. We don’t know if TB offered him 2MM for 2 years and Pit offered 2.75MM for 3.

Still, I think if Pit offered there would be a discussion. Even if TB wanted them to eat 0.5-1MM. It would remove the pick with him though...

He's a right side guy and the emergence of Perbix and Raddysh with Schmidt and Thompson in Cuse so, don't really see it being in play

I mean that's a valid opinion. I personally don't see Fleury or Raddish as more than depth. But you can disagree.

Raddysh has played extremely well since being called up (according to Jon Cooper) he almost made the team out of training camp . Fluery I kind of agree but they go after a left shot guy then

I mean I don't have as much personal knowledge as Cooper but based on his stats, he played ok in a limited sample in the regular season.

In the playoffs, he had the second worst Corsi of TB dmen (just behind Cole), TB's expected goals when he was on the ice was 40%, their expected goals with him on the bench was 55%. So he wasn't getting them goals or solid possession. His on ice expected goals against per 60 was second worst on the team. His expected shots against per 60 was worst on the team. So he wasn't suppressing shots or preventing goals.

He still could turn it around but he has a very limited sample size and isn't good so far....

Their off season will most likely be re-signing Colton and Jeannot and filling out the roster w/ guys making $1m or less. They'll lose Killorn, Cole and probably Eyssimont.

1.6M for a player who is slow and doesn't forecheck isn't "fine". I'm sure they can find a 4C who is cheaper and at least forechecks.

Depends on what you want in a 4th line center. Do you want a guy who scores and wins faceoffs? Do you want a guy that grinds and prevents goals with forecheck. Both have a place. If a guy can do both well, he isn't a 4th liner and he isn’t cheap.

62% faceoff wins, 46% corsi, 10 goals scored, 15 expected goals... that's a fine 3rd liner. But he has lost a step or two and thus, 4th liner. All of that for 1.6MM is a fine player.
