Description
Nothing to see here . . . just looking at how close they might be to the cap floor. Looks like they'll need to add a contract or two, especially if Domi gets offers from any contenders.

I think Kurashev could probably get another mil or so. Davidson and Richardson really seem to like him. But yeah. Plenty of contracts we could find around to take on. Shouldnt be too much of an issue

Basically need to add two 4 million dollar UFA deals. Fine with one being Domi for even 2-3 years. Drouin is kind of my flavor or the day lately as a 1 year deal to pump him up with PP time and top 6 minutes and dump at the deadline. I would pass on Khaira, Bjork, and Caleb Jones and just play kids in those spots.

I'm wondering if Illinois native UFA Compher from the Avs would be good signing. Same with an offer sheet to Rangers Miller, 4.3m just costs a second rounder.

All's fair in love, war, and ACGM but if Davidson offersheets K'Andre Miller and this after media is reporting NYR did Hawks a favor by making the 2nd a conditional 1st.... hoo boy. Get the popcorn ready.

If it's money the players want, I don't think how the Rangers can match both LAF and Miller....one but not the other. But like your scenario even better.

I've thought of that too. But I doubt he comes home. CHI likely won't be winning anything for the duration of his career, and he is a pretty desirable player that should have plenty of more appealing offers. Even for less money but with teams that will actually be competitive. Whereas, Domi has already been here, loved it, and said he was very open to sticking around on a longer term deal. Plus, he doesn't seem to carry the same kind of appeal around the league as Compher does. I just think we'd have a lot better luck bringing back someone like Domi.

You may right, and we certainly don't know what goes through a players mind. But Miller hasn't made much money by (NHL standards), and he could almost double his money by signing an offer sheet. No reason why the Hawks couldn't be competitive soon. They do have picks and prospects and lots of cap.

Sure. They could probably do it, but they won't. Davidson has consistently preached patience and building through the draft and development since taking over as GM. I highly doubt he switches gears and CHI starts trending back upwards for at least another two seasons, if not longer.

Miller is great, but I doubt Davidson ever makes a move like that. He doesn't seem like the type offer sheet at all. Plus, we have SO MANY left shot dmen to work through over the next couple years and figure out who is gonna stick, that it makes no sense to rush anything and make that kind of move. Makes more sense to stay the course and continue to be a bottom feeding team until our prospect pipeline is stocked and starts converging with our NHL roster more heavily, especially in the forward department. We need some homegrown stars to start showing their skills and earning their stripes before we know what to add around them. If we ice a competitive team and keep drafting later, we're never gonna get the kind of balance and star power that teams need to make legitimate cup runs.

I remember that happening to the Hawks. They had Halmarsson and Niemi as RFA's and SJ signed Hammer to an offersheet. Hawks matched leaving no space for Niemi and SJ swooped in and signed him.
