The guys I'd hate to lose (which is a good measure of their value) are Spence and Grans at RD, Fa-gem-o and Chromiak at RW, and Pinelli and Helenius at C.
So what is Spence's upside? Sell me on him...I know I can look at stats and stuff, but the fanbases are the ones who really can give perspective.
I've been honest on my assessment of the Detroit LD prospects. In this order of top pairing potential :Edvinsson, Wallinder or AJ, Buiuim, McIssac, Sebrango. Edvinsson is the sure bet stud, he is locked in. After that...they are all prospects. McIssac is probably the only one I see a sure bet NHL career, but his ceiling started high and gets lower as his floor raises; that said his early career was destroyed by injury, so he has decent potential to reach his expectations of top 4 two way D...and then some. Sebrango is McIsaac but a bit younger and less injury prone (also lower initial expectations). Buiuim might as well be the frigging draft lottery; awesome, then ok, then meh, then holy my; he is work in progress with top 4 or top 6 potential. Albert Johansson might be better than Seider (no joke) but he is a slow growth guy; think Lidstrom with a lower starting point and (of course) a lower ceiling, but there's a 1 in 20 chance he wins a half dozen Norris trophies. Wallinder has top pairing potential, and has done nothing but get infinitely better after missing out on a team Sweden callup that Kronwall coached him after;seriously shocked how fast he went from promising, to waste, to wow he is good.
Detroit has no other prospects worth mentioning at the moment outside of Kasper (destined to be the 33rd best center in the league with an off chance to be a top 10). Mazur is for sure unbelievably promising, top 6 scoring winger, but need to see more. Hanas just looks like one of those Jarnkrok types that have two very different possible outcomes, but there is an NHLer there.
