I don't know why everyone thinks the Kings will pay such an insane cost to dump Cal Petersen. They're not desperate for cap space. They'll just bury him in the AHL and eat his $3.85M cap hit.

Not a chance. They started this season with $10.8M on the books in goaltending. Next season will be significantly less, even if they hang on to Petersen.

They'll pay at most a 2nd round pick to move Petersen's contract. If no one will take it, then they'll just stash him in the minors for a year and buy him out next summer.
