If we don't re-sign Vladi Gavrikov, there are a variety of other options for us to pursue, starting with Ryan Graves; I really doubt that we would be interested in a stopgap rental like Dillon. Moreover, that second-rounder is now our earliest pick in this year's draft; I don't see us waiting until the late eighties to make our first selection.

Boston can't afford Scheifele.

And zero chance of Connor Hellebuyck committing long term with Ottawa. So they're not giving up those pieces for 1 year.

Yet again. Boston has to shed 6-10m of cap space just to fill out their roster next year. Not adding cap. If Bergy and DK both retire they might pursue a center, they might not, but it won’t be MS.

It just doesn’t work.

There's a good chance of Blake Wheeler, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck all moving in the next 1-2 years. So you're not heading for a re-tool you're heading for a rebuild.

Stanley isn't a position of need and Entwhistle provides a little grunt and aggression in our bottom 6. Coach seems to like him and feels he is coachable.

Our problem is we have an abundance of LHD and in particular I think next season we are going to be developing our own 6"6 defence man in Vlasic who has impressed the eye test in his short stint recently.

I totally get what you are saying, but I think this would be pretty difficult for CHI to turn down. Stanley is a big talented former 18th overall pick that is only 24 years old. We could turn around immediately and trade him for more than CHI would ever get for Enty, but even more so after playing in Richardson's system for a while.

Definitely valid, Management would have to like him. Im not super keen on him tbh and yes he is young, so is Mitchell from the same draft class who we are potentially letting walk.

Sure. But, Mitchell is also smaller, a completely different type/pedigree of player, and was a late 2nd round pick. Stanley is 6'7", skates very well, and has the upside to become elite defensively, which are all things they seem to covet. And I actually agree with that. This whole fad of offensive defensemen is gonna get teams in trouble sooner or later. Especially when the NHL trends back toward defense. Which is bound to happen with the huge uptick of offense, coaches, and therefore players as well, are gonna have to start focusing on ways to shut all that offense down. Which seems to be what CHI is trying to accomplish, a sort of hybrid of the fast and flashy modern offensive style but with structured and firm defensive fundamentals geared toward transitioning quickly.
