For only a 3rd pick. Montreal would say yes.

Minnesota doesn't have the cap space to fit Kuznetsovs $7.8 mil caphit in.

And why would Mark Scheifele waive for a team that's trending down in Washington? he grew up a Red Wings fan Yzerman was his idol growing up. I can see Scheifele waiving for a young up and coming Red Wings team. Then a Capitals team that's trending down and heading for a major rebuild once Ovechkin retires.

Why would the Blues trade Buch for picks a year or two out? Seems like entering a full rebuild which they aren’t capable of doing given the roster construction.

Blues decline. Buch isn't being moved as the blues see him as part of the core moving forward

They'll figure it out.... if low retention is needed. maybe, but I dont think the caps do that. Minnesota needs centers.

I see his NTC is only 10 teams, doubt the caps would be on it as usually it is the bottom rung of nhl teams with zero playoff hopes... so he may not have a choice. caps take a chance that he has a good year and wants to re-sign. at this point its year by year trying to build a better roster, otherwise they might as well hang onto picks and maintain status quo of either getting a wild card or missing out...this is the type of bold move Brian McClellan makes

Maybe. swap a pick for a prospect, could even be McMichael

Maybe, not well versed in what blues think of him. for the right price though I am sure they would be willing to move...might need some tweaking on the package. I dont think caps trade 2023 1st rounder though.

The only piece that the Caps have that get the ball rolling is their first this year. And even then it’s a rebuild move, something that the Blues have stated they don’t plan on doing. Mcmicheal isn’t a bad prospect. But he isn’t a centerpiece.

I think the main piece the blues would want is the 2023 first. Getting a 2024 first pushes the retool/rebuild back a year. Horvat at the time of the trade got a top 15 first round pick, a B+ tier prospect and some other stuff and he was a UFA. That being said I don't see the blues moving him and if they were to move him it would be next summer or at next years TDL

Winnipeg would likely want that second to be swapped out for a current roster player, but this is close value.

In what world is the Habs paying for a guy who was scratched with that contract realistic? Especially with a 3rd in 2023? Habs should have 0 interest in this, with their already logjammed forward group. Only way this goes down is like a Monahan trade where the Habs get paid to take a near $6M player whose unreliable.

Because I’ve known Anthony since his days in Val D’or in the Q and he wants out of Washington.
