First of all, congrats on making this. At least you did the effort to test your theory to see if the numbers would fit.
But I'm still not convinced. In your scenario, NYR are not resigning any top UFAs and dressing up 4 AHL level players just for the privilege of overspending on Laf.
I can't see a contending team shooting themselves in the foot like that. The AGM you made isnt a contending team anymore. It would be way smarter to take the OS picks and use the capspace on Kane and a descent back up goalie.
Last thing. Even if your AAV for Miller is realistic, Sportnet reported a lot of interest around the league. If you overspend on Laf, you wont be able to match another OS and could loose Miller which is far more important. Would be smart to overpend on him instead.
Kane is a spent force, so no thanks. Besides the line Laffy is a part of they only work together so moving him will pull down a whole line.
I'm sure Laffy isn't going anywhere neither is Miller they will both be signed before teams will have a chance to even offer sheet.
and contending team and contending team, they only need to survive 2023-24.
Then Kreider and Trouba with go from NMC to M-NMC and can be moved, if needed to make a big splash.
Most likely scenario is Laffy signs 3 year 3.2 M deal.
Miller 3-4 years around 4-4.25 M.
and a forechecking depth player is signed for 1.5-2 M.
and the so called "kid line" becomes NYR second line.
