If NSH goes into a Rebuild

Description
Nashville fans, help me out here. If the Preds go into a rebuild, what is the cost for Saros? I know there's no bargaining out of this one, but what would it take? Pickering and Blomqvist are probably a good two year away from being ready to play at the NHL level which would be good timing if NSH begins a rebuild.

Yes, I'm auctioning the future, but his team gets a top goalie and a youth injection.

Even though I like Raddysh this is too tempting to pass up on

"Carter retires. This is just his contract. This can be to any team willing to take it.": If a player retires, there is no obligation by any team to take on cap or cash for the years(s) the player has retired. Now there is cap implications in case of front loaded contract, which doesn't apply to Carter.

Hawks probably decline. 2 years and $11m in real dollars probably takes that 1st just to move out. A 2nd for certain. Assuming a 2nd is enough, Hawks don't send TRad just to upgrade the certain 2nd to a 1st.

Yeah, this last year showed what it's costing to move contracts. It wouldn't take a 1st to move out, so that's just wrong. Raddysh is probably worth a 2nd-ish on his own, so a first and getting an average player is more than enough. You guys still need to ice a hockey team.

Well there are a limited number of teams that can take on a $5m cap hit, so that could very well "raise the price". TRad is also a Davidson acquisition, not a Bowman holdover. And Davidson has traded for very few younger players (mostly just picks), so Davidson must like things in his game. Your take on this is valid. I just don't see the Hawks doing it as proposed.

If it meant getting Saros I think that changes the game plan, especially if Hextall is out after this year which I have a feeling he will be.

That's my thought as well. I've been following Raddysh since his Erie days and was stoked when he was traded here.

That's a reasonable assessment and you laid out your thought process well. I'm on the fence with the proposal but with this draft being so deep, I have a hard time passing on the chance to get a better player than Raddysh.

Thanks! A pick that probably falls between 18 and 20 in this draft is hard to turn down for sure. And I'm probably more of a TRad fan than most. I followed him when he was still a Bolt and playing in Syracuse. I think TRad is a guy who can score 20-25 goals every year, even dropping down to the 3rd line once the young guys break into the NHL. I'd probably do this deal if it was Kurashev instead of TRad going back to Pens.

Raddysh is going to be a very good player. I mean, he's already really good, but please don't take this the wrong way, he'd be wasted on you guys since you're just NOW entering a rebuild. A real rebuild could take four or five years before you start pushing your way towards being a playoff team. You know what I mean? I truly don't mean that as an insult. By the time you guys are making your way towards being a playoff team, Raddysh will probably be on the verge of being 30. That's why I have no qualms moving Pickering and Blomqvist. We're going to be nothing in three years. Hell, we may be nothing after THIS year, but we need to throw it all at the wall to milk the last few years of Sid and Geno.

At this point, while you guys obviously need to ice a team, you should be cultivating picks and prospects not in the NHL.

Agree with most of this. Hawks won't be relevant for 4 or 5 years. I'm sure Hawks got calls on TRad at the TDL this year and he's still a Hawk. If the Hawks did decide to trade TRad, I'm certain there would be multiple teams in on him. He's not bringing a Hagel type return, but I don't see the Hawks trading him unless someone offers a package they can't refuse. No offense intended, but I don't feel Granlund and a 1st is that package. Just my opinion. I don't have any inside knowledge. Maybe the Hawks do it. Just saying if I was the GM, I wouldn't.

As to your point that that Hawks "At this point, while you guys obviously need to ice a team, you should be cultivating picks and prospects not in the NHL." The Hawks have no F prospects in the AHL that are NHL ready who are anything more than 4th liners in the NHL. Any high end prospects are at least 2 years away. Hawks still needs players who can score goals and play top 6 minutes in the NHL. Trading TRad now just makes that issue worse.

To me Raddysh is worth a 2nd, maybe 2nd + mid-level prospect. Granlund isn't any prize, but he's a serviceable player; he's just not the right type of player the Pens need, so I'm not trying convince you he's good, but why don't we keep him type of thing. Granlund is not a goal-scorer, nor is he good defensively. He's a set-up man and the Pens have enough of those. Now, I'd say you probably shouldn't be too concerned about scoring goals. I'm not sure the of the quality of players coming up in the draft over the next three or so years, but just going on by what the Pens went through prior to Sid, it was worth it to not be good at scoring goals lol. The pain is worth the payoff. Just look at Ottawa.

So yes, Granlund is no prize, but he's simply a serviceable player you get to have and bumping to a 1st is what I feel makes it worth it. But yes again to your point, if he's available, there could be a small bidding situation for him.
