lmao, Tyson Jost's 5v5 on ice impact since joining the sabres has been pretty good. But even then, my larger point would be that bottom six players are very much rotational. You dont ever need or want to be caught paying big $ or term. Thats why good teams typically ice that part of their lineup with younger players on elc's and/or vets on 1 or 2 year deals.

Goodrow is merely okay defensively 5v5 and on the PK, but even if i thought he was good, theres no reason to do this.

The whole point in the Sabres hiring two of the smartest analytics guys in the NHL is to avoid this exact situation. So unless the Rangers are paying the Sabres or giving us free tickets to broadway for the next 5 years, im not really sure what the point of this deal would be.
