might be a good trade but i am not sure that nashville would want to move him and the pay more when goalies are so inconsistent would be reckless... The habs have Hokes i think his name is and he hasgood numbers and maybe just draft another goalie in the second or third round this year.....look at how montembault developed.. and if he continues like this year he is a starter and allen an overpaid backup.... we could run that for two years and see if Hokes or Dokes or primeau develop.. it gives them 2 years...I think primeau might only be a backup but time will tell.

There are lots of UFA goalies on the market and even some RFASs that could be offer sheeted.,..,.,.,and it wouldn't cost as much to obtain as what you did for Askarov, and certainly Montreal has cap to do it.

Askarov is a 11th overall from a couple years back that is developing nicely. I dont think nashville trades him for a lesswr 1st round pick. I like harris though just not that much

No chance Nashville trades him if your 1st this year isn't involved. It takes insane overpays to steal the top goalie prospects in the league away from a team

Um that's not how draft works nor is that how prospect value works. Is 2023 a strong draft? Yes. Is Askarov one of the 3 best goalie prospects in the league? Also yes, he is certainly worth more than his 11th OA pick at the time. You want a goalie prospect of that caliber you pay up or draft your own. Nashville laughs at the above offer.

Lets look at 2012 for example, that draft turned out to be very weak but Vasilevskiy was still drafted at 19th. Jump forward 3 3 and we have a somewhat comparable to 2020 vs 2023 with the McDavid draft. Would you trade any of Hanifin, Marner, Strome, or Eichel + Bryan Rust (2010 mid round pick that just came from NCAA in 14/15) for Vasilevskiy? I can confidently assume at least 2 of them in a heartbeat and you would probably think about it for the other 2
