Man has been nothing short of a 7.5m dman and surprising to say I'd almost rather nurse at his cap hit based on him playing all situations. What happend to the 70 point Reilly that was quite good? He simply put isn't worth 7.5m now and could use his cap elsewhere to boost the team in other positions like goalie or keeping both Nylander and matthews with cap to spare.

9.25mill for a guy who barely puts up points and isnt stellar in his own end. Yea would rather have Rielly and the extra cap space.

But man people forget Rielly isnt playing at 100% and is still doing alright by offense standards.

Last year he was only behind McAvoy in faceoffs against elite competition and contributing in a positive manner. One bad year doesnt take away from that. DownTown sports explains things best with Rielly. As if next year he returns to form its gonna be a very bad look again for us and knowing him hes gonna do it.

And how has he done this year in comparison. You can come up with excuses all you want but he has been not worth 7.5m and is only the first year

From the response can tell u did not watch the video as I said before downtown sports explains it best

And if u look at Rielly past the TDL hes been much better. Basically lowering the ice time and putting him away from Holl helped a bunch. Still not perfect but as mentioned hes not 100% but in the games vs. Carolina, Colorado, Ottawa, and even Edmonton he looked good by his standards with one stinker vs. NYI in which nobody looked good. So yea

Yeah blah blah blah he was good last year hope he rebounds but that video likes to cherry pick stats as it's from a leafs fan. If this is the Reilly that shows you still think he's the guy? The point is just because he's shown previous success will this be the new norm? You can give me random stats that don't mean anything to me he doesn't pass many eye tests and frankly hasn't been good this year.

So u didnt watch the video well until u do and understand things discussions over.

As in his past 10 games 2 goals 5 assists. And in the Carolina, Colorado, Ottawa, and even Edmonton he looked good by his standards with one stinker vs. NYI in which nobody looked good especially the Colorado game. So yea would do more checking and watch the vid lul

I'll watch it if you tell me if Reilly is currently worth his 7.5m nmc contact in year 1/8 as a 29 year old

When hes 100% healthy will let u know as we cant judge a player who isnt playing at 100%

For instance Matthews isnt having a great season and is not 100% is he worth his 11+ mill of course he is

Rielly is not healthy but is on pace for 48 points in 66 games. That aint bad and if we look at his stats and see what he can do when healthy a bounce back for 2023-2024 is almost guaranteed. Heck before the NYI game he was trending in the right direction 2 goals 5 assists in 10 games and especially in the Avs game was a 2-way menace making both offensive and defensive plays left and right.

Never. Morgan Rielly is going to retire a Leaf. This is Toronto's next captain in my opinion. How is he not worth the $7.5 million a season he is currently making. Why Leaf fans would want to keep Nylander over Rielly, I will never understand.

Toronto fans' considering trading a Morgan Rielly, would soon be followed by, we need a guy like Morgan Rielly.

You get rid of Nylander before Rielly.

Who cares what you say, you're obviously wrong. You would probably have 21 forwards, 2 goalies and no D.

I'm really late on this discussion, but I don't think so. The amount of playoff production he consistently has makes him valuable to the Leafs who need playoff performers.

He's been here the longest and I've never heard a bad thing about him, he's a great player who had a bit of a down season, that doesn't mean he can't do better next season.

If you trade him it's because you're concerned his ability to stay healthy is questionable as he moves into his 30s

Everything I've heard suggests he's the heart and soul of the locker room.

When he's played a full 82 games, he averages well over 0.8pt/gm...he's had 3 healthy seasons in the last 5 (2018-19, 2020-21 and 2021-22). The 2020-21 year was the COVID year so only played 55games but believe he was otherwise healthy

2019-20 season he had the broken foot and last season he had the knee injury. For me, that doesn't really scream "injury prone"...at least not yet

Just going off memory, he seems to play his best when paired with a veteran prescence (Ron Hainsey and TJ Brodie). I remember watching him paired with Cody Ceci and had to cope all game with Ceci just shoveling him panicked passes in high danger areas.

I also don't buy in to the logic of trading him for cap space in order to sign Matthews and Nylander. It's our D-core that has needed upgrading and removing Rielly takes us significantly backwards, IMO.

I wouldn't say he's untouchable, but I can't see a logical reason to move on from him at this point unless he's part of a trade that brings in another legit #1 d-man.

I can't see Reilly waiving (or even been asked to waive his NTC). Don't know if the Leaf could get better value than Reilly at 7.5m

Considering that man's playoffs these past 2 seasons would be dumb to move him

That man just flipped off his haters b2b years with strong performances.

Like lets be real a healthy Reilly makes 7.5m look like a steal

Could have asked for 8-9m like Nurse but nope he took a discount to stick around. Should be the Captain but hey its his choice to want it or not.

I think his deal is good and he may still get the C although I think it will go to Matthews...he stays a Leaf and signs a Spezza deal at the end fopr league minimum and is the Giordano of that time...probably even stays in the organization after his playing career (something like but unlike Spezza)
