Why is Kevin Cheveldayoff still a GM in this league?
Read the pandering for 'likes' on this thread.
Look at some of these people thirsty for 'likes'. They try to add some random comment to a thread that has almost 800 views, this is so predictable.
People outright swear at me on MY thread and other people 'like' the comment, get real, seriously get a life.
His eulogy read, He spent a lot of time on CapFriendly.
That's it. That's ALL he did.

The BEST part of the Toronto Maple Leafs and how they operate is...
Imagine playing ALL 82 regular season games, securing your BAG, and missing Game 1 of the Playoffs.
Toronto is pretty quiet about these things, so we really don't know the circumstances. But, this doesn't look good.
He may have a bunch of people fooled, but he is a one-dimensional player, and has always been. You don't pay that much for a one-dimensional player.
Did anyone see the statistic while watching game 1, that in no game during the regular season (4 games) Toronto ever held a lead against Boston?
That stat continued through Game 1 of the Playoffs.

Who will win a Stanley Cup first?
As of April 20th, 2024, this poll has a vote of:
6 votes for Jack Hughes.
4 votes for Connor McDavid.
1 vote for Auston Matthews.
With the Stanley Cup Playoffs about to start, and since we will have to wait until at least next year for Jack Hughes to chase glory.
Matthews and McDavid are about to enter the dance.
Can either of these two etch their name as Stanley Cup Champion?

Welcome to the NHL, Utah
In what seems like a natural fit, the NHL is taking their shot in Utah.
I am interested in the direction this team is going to take under the control of Ryan Smith and the Smith Entertainment Group. With money allocated correctly, numerous draft picks, and changes in player development, it could prove immediately beneficial.
Nothing against Arizona, but if I am a player within the system, I would be excited by this move.
A team name and logo hasn't already been established with Smith stating, "We'll start with Utah on the jersey and we'll figure out the logo and everything else."
So, maybe something similar to the New Jersey Devils 'Jersey' alternate. Which would not be surprising considering the relationship between Ryan Smith and David Blitzer.
Welcome to the NHL, Utah.

Who's your MVP for the 2023-24 season: McDavid or Any Other Player...???
Voting has shifted dramatically in this poll, which is understandable.
These numbers are fluid and should change slightly, but not significantly:
Kucherov: 77 GP, 43 G, 96 A, 139 Points, +9
MacKinnon: 79 GP, 51 G, 86 A, 137 Points, +37
Matthews: 77 GP, 66 G, 38 A, 104 Points, +36
McDavid: 74 GP, 31 G, 99 A, 130 Points, +34
Panarin: 79 GP, 46 G, 70 A, 116 Points, +16
All of these players are having Hart Trophy worthy seasons, and I'm sure the winner will be a deserving vote.
Thanks for participating in the poll and in the general discussion.

We have a legit conversation happening here, and rightfully so.
This is a good debate.
McDavid currently has 99 assists, and Matthews has 100 points to lead Toronto in scoring.
Shout out to Panarin, Rantanen, Hyman, Bouchard, and Dobson for having great seasons, and not getting the recognition you deserve.

(WSH/CAR) - Kuznetsov for 2025 3rd (CAR)
I proposed a trade last summer, its on my page, involving Edmundson, Kuznetsov ( with 50% retention), and a 2nd round pick going to Toronto, in return for significantly more than a 3rd round pick.
A Capitals fan responded to me with, "Caps say no based on the retention alone lol"
This guy and someone else liked that comment.
I'll say it again, enjoy your 3rd round pick.

(WSH/CAR) - Kuznetsov for 2025 3rd (CAR)
Not long ago, Washington and their fans were looking for a 1st rounder and more for Kuznetsov, like significantly more.
Washington will also be retaining 50% of this salary, because of how poorly their management team handled this situation.
Kuznetsov has been looking for a trade for years to get out of this situation, and Washington thought that they could capitalize to the max, and failed.
Enjoy your 3rd round pick, while paying half of his salary, next year included.
The fact that people think this is a win for Washington is funny.
I hope Kuznetsov lights it up for Carolina in the playoffs and all of next year.

For the record, I am a Leafs fan and ultimately I do hope they win, even when I chirp them. But, I am also a hockey fan.
I just don't need to have a name like, Leafsfan16 or something like that.
Apparently the majority of Toronto fans are repressing their memories.
Let me remind you of how this scenario went down, before Hyman was given away to Edmonton, for nothing.
It was league wide knowledge Hyman was looking for an extension of $5 million a season to stay in Toronto. If you can't see the value in that, there's not much more I can say.
I remember when Toronto traded Kadri away, and he went on to win it all with Colorado. Then he parlayed a Stanley Cup win into a new contract with the Calgary Flames. All while donating $1million of his own money and receiving a surgical unit named after him, called the Nazem Kadri Surgical Centre located in his hometown of London, Ontario.
Life goes on, even after you leave Toronto. Toronto didn't want either of these two. So, if you're able to win somewhere else, all the power to you.
I personally liked these two, I also like Sandin, Schenn, O'Reilly, Lafferty and the list goes on.
If these players are able to win somewhere else because Toronto doesn't know simple math, it's their own fault.

As of March 19th, 2024, this poll is leaning towards McDavid. At a vote of:

Do people still think McDavid can pull this out, or are they leaning towards someone else now?

This guy always responds to me like I care about his opinion at all, you were blocked a long time ago. I don't read anything you write.
The only time I read something of yours, was when you had nothing but bad things to say about Morgan Rielly in a thread, in the Toronto Maple Leafs section, then he was named an All-Star this year.
I don't need to name check people I have already blocked.

Why would Leaf fans not want Hyman at this # for 7 years?
Toronto just recently signed Nylander to $11.5 for 8 years and he'll be turning 36 years old in the final year of his deal.
Hasn't Toronto had Muzzin on the LTIR for the last 3 years, making over $5.5 million a season? This year Muzzin is also getting a scouting contract on top of his LTIR contract.
Even when Hyman was in Toronto, he was more than worth this number. He played first or second line regularly, and if you can get a guy at this #, that can play on your first or second line, that's a deal.
He is born in Toronto and he wanted to stay in Toronto.
This is an all heart type of player, with an endless motor, who just keeps going.
People want to hate on Holland, but he has won, multiple times.
He has assembled a team with solid depth, with guys like Kane, Nugent-Hopkins, Hyman, Perry, and Bouchard all on very good deals, that he signed.
This is how you win.

Why is Kevin Cheveldayoff still a GM in this league?
I have had this thread on this site since July of last year and no one has provided a rational and/or logical response as to why Kevin Cheveldayoff should be a GM in this league, because you can't...
I want to point it out that this thread is, the most viewed thread in the Winnipeg Jets section, I believe ever. So, maybe there is something to the question I proposed.
For context, there are posts missing on this thread because a couple 'tough guys' are unable to articulate their point without providing some tough guy language. Until they meet a real tough guy.
I already knew the answer to this question I asked back in July, and most people know it as well. The truth is I don't really care about this situation in Winnipeg, or whether they stay or leave.
So, I was glad I could provide the Jets' fans with something thoughtful and engaging to read.
Sincerely,
Not a Kevin Cheveldayoff fan.

As of right now, the Toronto Maple Leafs have Willy Nylander signed to longer term than anyone else on the team.
