Kuznetsov isn't waiving for Winnipeg and there is zero chance the Jets wait until 25 for the first.

I can understand that. Unfortunately Kuznetsov not waiving and waiting 3 drafts for the 1st kind of kills it for the Jets.

Here is an offer similar to Horvat

Montreal's 2024 1st (top 10 protected) + Mailloux + Dvorak

Montreals 1st (protected) = NYI 2023 1st (top 12 protected)
Mailoux = Raty
Dvorak = Beauvillier

Perfect trade for both sides.

The return for Debrincat seems excessive given that he's having a worse season than last year and now comes with a 9 million dollar qualifying offer. Two of the Caps top prospects and a 1st is pretty rough given the current cap situation.

I also don't see why New York wouldn't just move their own picks to get Hall if they really wanted them, rather than basically doing Washington a favor by giving them both Wahlstrom and Nelson.

I doubt that Oshie actually retires, regardless if it would be the best thing for his health. For better or worse, the guy is a gamer, dude does not stop.

Feels like it would cost islanders to dump Bailey that they wouldn’t want to give up. And in the return get a good player in Hall and clears more cap with no Oliver Wally. But that is a very raw proposal. Just like the Debrincat trade. Don’t know how else it would be. I do believe lappy will be a bust and I would like to ship him out. Maybe take out one of the two prospects. Thoughts on the dubois trade?

On Dubois: I'm hesitant. I'm not sure he'd mesh with the Caps, playing second fiddle to Ovi like Kuzy currently does.

For Hall, I don't think the difference between Hall and Nelson is Wahlstrom, especially as Nelson is having a better year than Hall. I think they'd be more content to keep their two guys than deal for someone who is scoring less than Nelson.

For Debrincat, I don't think there's a workable trade between Washington and Ottawa that Ottawa would accept. You've made a decent proposal for what Ottawa could potentially accept (even if I doubt they move Cat), but Washington would be much better suited to potentially keep Iorio and send Lap+1st for Schmaltz for example than giving up that much for someone who costs 9 mil (pretty much nixing any chance Wilson returns since you have to pay him and Sandin next year with limited cap). I can't really see a world where Washington can bring in Debrincat while keeping Wilson+Sandin.

Nelson was the other acgm. This time it’s just hall for Bailey and Wally but good points.

Nobody's trading for Mailloux. I'd take Beck or Roy though and that FLA 2023 1st.

I think the trade happens in the offseason so the 2023 1st is already gone, Beck's and Roy's stalk has been on the rise since being drafted unlike Raty whose stalk has fallen since being drafted. Maybe you could argue Tuch, Strubble or Heineman are similar value to Raty but Beck and Roy have more value right now.

Why is nobody trading for Mailloux? He has done everything asked of him by the NHL, OHL and Habs, he has been proving he wants to be a better person on and off the ice and he has been having his best year production wise in the OHL. If teams and fans can forgive Matthews for his crimes why can't they forgive Mailloux?

Agreed. Mailloux is pretty much worthless. True North definitely isn't taking on a guy with severe character issues.

I could see Mailloux as a throw in for a deal somewhere, but no one is giving up anything significant for him.

I think Dvorak has an M-NTC kicking in this summer, which likely has WPG on it, so that could make an offseason trade difficult. I also think PLD for a full year compared to a TDL trade warrants having a better prospect than Raty.

Last I heard about Mailloux is that he's still ineligible for the NHL, so why would a team want to put in that extra work just to get him on the ice. I think he's MTL's problem for now and until he's a full-fledged NHLer with his past completey behind him, nobody's gonna want to trade for him.

Dvorak also has a knee injury requiring surgery and will not be ready for the start of next year.

Another player with no value to any team but Montreal.

There are too many Montreal fans fixated on the getting something for nothing fantasy.

Dvorak will be ready for camp by all reports

Mailloux has value to every team looking for a top 4 RH puck moving D prospect. Edmonton traded for Kane, teams would trade for Matthews, NHL Gm's have proven over and over again that they will trade for players with off ice issues.

You are getting 2 1st's and a roster player worth of value, how is that getting something for nothing?!

Oof, didn't know that about Dvorak. Guess he's off the list.

My justification for wanting Dvorak is that I'm on Team Rebuild and you need someone like him at the helm for that rebuild process while the kids develop. Otherwise, though, he wouldn't be on my Win-Now team and the Habs wouldn't make a good Win-Now trade partner.

Yeah, I can see the justification for wanting him, but he has an awful contract. The Jets could easily pick up UFA center that would be equal to what Dvorak produces at probably half or less the cost.

I also agree on the win-now trade partner part. A trade with Montreal ONLY works if the Jets decide they want a futures only return if they move PLD. If the Jets want a young roster player as part of the return, Montreal is out. They don't have a young roster player they would want to trade that the Jets would have any interest in. They're not good trading partners in that scenario.

Would Wilson + Oshie works? If Caps can get DBC on a reasonable AAV, they get younger and free significant space.

Greig - Stutzle - Giroux
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Oshie - Pinto - Wilson
Joseph - Kastelic - Gauthier

That is a solid forward group top to bottom and finally hard to play against

That is a fair deal don’t get me wrong but bmac would get fired if he traded Wilson and Oshie contract off our hands would be nice

Wilson is untouchable? Even in the context going forward? I know he's an unicorn but he'd return DeBrincat plus getting rid of Oshie's contract?

I personally wouldn't mind Oshie's veteran presence (which the Sens lack of) and 2-way game even if overpaid at this point. He only has 2 years left IIRC
