Description
Gotta think one of Zellweger, Minty or LaCombe make the team.

Boeser comes a little cheaper with Myers attached.

If the Ducks get Bedard, he plays with McT and the top 6 looks pretty good on paper. If they get Fantilli he plays 3C with Strome and Vatrano. If it’s anyone else they’re less likely to get a full time NHL spot next season with all of the bodies the ducks have.

*Line up is with Fantilli because he’s more likely than Bedard

I like Lundestrom so I'd look at a deal like this. To be honest it would be absolutely perfect if it was Garland + Myers instead. I'd do that without even taking a pick back.

Garland + Myers for Lundestrom.

I think I might do that. The ducks really need a right handed winger.

Severson would be a poor partner for Zellerger, that pairing would get caved in. I don't think Fowler Drysdale works either.

Fantilli can play LW as well as C, he would likely take 2LW over Comtois. Strome shouldn't be on the third line, he is poor defensively, he's meant for 2nd line work. Really disagree on getting rid of Lundestrom, but you know that already.

Canucks take this in a heart beat, they have been trying to move cap for over a year. If they can move over 12M without any retention in a single trade plus add a pick and young center, absolutely.

I like it. We need a 3C you guys need a 2RW and cap. Think Boes has a real shot of a rebound with the high utilization and the skilled C core in ANA. Mutually beneficial for sure.

Severson is a quality 2 way guy. Yes his offensive ability is better than defense but he’s solid defensively. I think he’d be fine with any of the kids on the 2nd pair. And you may be right about Fowler and Drysdale but they’re not much else to do with them. Not gonna sign a top 4 LD to play with Drysdale as that just blocks Zellweger, Minty etc.

Fantilli at 3C makes way more sense than 2LW. He’s going to be a C long term and he’s displacing Strome to the wing where his defensive deficiencies are partly negated. If Strome is in the top 6 for the remainder of his contract that means the ducks aren’t trying to compete.

Of the kids, Mints will be the first one up. One of the things Verbeek harped on at the OA members event was not rushing kids to the show before their bodies are ready for the pounding they will take over the course of an 82 game season. I don't expect to see OZ until Fowlers contract is up outside of injury call ups and pre season games. Once Helleson is ready to be the experienced guy, he will probably be OZ's running mate.

As to Severson, I would rather take Dumba, better fit for the brand of Hockey Verbeek wants, better leader in the locker room. Mayfield is my first UFA choice though.

Dumba is worse than Severson. He’s an offense only guy.

Hasn’t Helleson been pretty poor in SD this season? And there’s no chance OZ is in SD for 3 seasons.

Helleson had a rough start, he's picked it up a lot now that he's used to AHL level hockey. This is why I think he will need another year in SD before he comes up full time.

Dumba is not as good as Severson, but he plays the brand of hockey Verbeek wants. He's trying to build the type of team we had in '07, make opposing teams pay for each goal with a pound of flesh, be rock solid defensively, grind the other team into the ice, and then toss in a few goals for the win. While Dumba used to be offense only, he's largely transitioned his style of play as he's aged.

And yeah, there's a good chance OZ is in SD until he is 22-23 years old, kids tiny, Verbeek will want him seriously bulked up before coming to the show, he'll want the right RHD for him to be covered, both physically and defensively, and that will be one of Helleson or Warren more than likely.

Well if Verbeek is looking for that type of team we’ll be seeing a lot of top 3 picks while he’s in charge.
