For the Laughton trade I don't hate it, and it's probably fair I can't see the Flyers trading Laughton for there is a first thoughh. He's a leader, the only person with an A on the Flyers, and a player who just does everything he's asked too.

LA isn't trading Spence for a forward. The Kings have too many forwards already.

The other two trades are fine, although I don't think the Kings are prepared to pay to dump Petersen. They'd rather just bury him in the AHL.

The cost of Scott Laughton is a 21-man roster instead of a 23-man squad with Rasmus Kupari and Alex Turcotte or Sam Fa-gem-o plus a seventh defenseman. Moreover, we lose Jordan Spence and a high pick from our already-depleted dance card. And Carl Grundstrom would never clear waivers. No, thanks.

Well, if this is a 23-24 trade, presumably, his $4M signing bonus will have already been paid for next season. But that is still $7M in actual cash, since his contract is back loaded with a $6M salary in the final year. A 2025 2nd round pick probably isn't enough to cover all of that. But, who knows.
