What lines "should" they be playing?

Is it because of the Schiefele hit on Evans or something else?

I dunno. I can be "emotional" about these kinds of things, and Scheifele is a villain in my mind.

That being said... The defensive play has not been great, especially in the last 10 games. The Oilers can maybe play like that, but if the Jets play like the Oilers they are destined to be beaten by the Oilers.

I also very much want the GM/Ownership to feel under the gun to make wholesale changes, which may actually result in a PLD trade to my Habs at a decent price.

If the Jets start selling this offseason, they are gonna have a much shorter rebuild because they can get incredible value on Connor, Scheifele, Dubois, Ehlers, Morrissey, Helly. Trading those 6 guys will net you picks and prospects so that you come out better than now in 3 years.

If you wait and Scheifele, Dubois, and Helly walk... It's gonna be more like 5-6 years

Yeah there's a decent chance the Jets miss the playoffs, they're in a brutal slump and outside of a handful of players they have a lineup of 3rd pair dmen, 4th liners and AHLers, just not well built overall.

Agreed. But think about the war chest they can put together if they sell their 6 best players. Minimum 9 additional first round picks or A prospects...

Yeah if we don’t make the playoffs I hope we make some big roster changes, I don’t the see the Jets wanting to trade away Connor, Ehlers, or Morrissey though. Ownership will want to keep a rebuild as short as possible and with Perfetti, Lucius, Mcgroarty, Lambert, Heinola, Samberg, and whatever you can get for Scheifele, Hellebuyck, and Dubois they can probably get the rebuild done in three or so years. Ehlers might end up being traded or will request for one but I imagine the Jets would be still hesitant to see him go. Connor and Morrissey I doubt will be going anywhere for the time being.

That would be the biggest mistake. If you rebuild, go deep!

Ritchie should not be in the top 9, Dube or Ruzicka should in his place. Lucic shouldn't be playing at all.

Huberdeau and Kadri need to be separated too

The lines I would run are
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Pelletier
Dube - Kadri - Toffoli
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Ritchie - Ruzicka/Lewis - Duehr/Lewis

And Markstrom is the starter

Agreed. I'm really thinking they need a different voice behind the bench now. Sutter seems to have lost the room and that relationship will only continue to sour with the way he coaches. Not that he's a bad coach by any means but he's extremely hard on his players and that can weigh on them. Things should be better next year
