Description
This is the ultimate dream of dreams. We need a superstar forward. Larkin and Raymond are very good, but they aren’t superstars. If we can land Bedard that’s walking into a goldmine for free. We would have to buy buy buy after such luck.

Bedard will play wing in the NHL.
No chance in hell Wings trade two first round picks plus Johansson for that ****ty contract hahahaha. Gross.
The Veleno trade is garbage too.
I don’t think the three active goalies should be a long term thing for this team either haha, unless NHL makes rule change across league.

I'm confused. Is the goal to land Bedard and then continue to tank into another series of draft lotteries?

Bedard isn’t playing wing. No chance you put a player of his calibre on the wing. Seth Jones is a good defenceman on an AHL team.

Why would we even consider adding Jones at 9.5 mil? They get Bedard they stay the course. No need to spend big. I'd rather trade for Boeser wouldn't cost an arm and a leg and keep it rolling

Not with Jones. I lump him right in with Reilly, Ekman-Larsen, and Nurse as overpaid players who do more damage to the team by eating so much cap without the production. Jones has progressively gotten worse each season, and it is quite reasonable to assume he will not get better as he continues in to his 30s.

Boston couldn't give Craig Smith away. Detroit couldn't give Erne away. Carrier is not worth that package. Korpisalo is an ideal 1B for Husso, but he will get more salary than what you suggest.

They don't need to get Boesser. Berggren is already the offensive scorer. Mazur is only a year away too, and I expect him to be a great scoring wing.

Boeser is a legit 30 goal scorer from the right side. You need a bit of both.

Yes, and if he is indeed a 30 goal scorer, he will want to get paid. He doesn't bring enough to the game to justify his current cap hit, let alone what he will want in a new deal. By thar time, you will have to have new deals for Seider, Raymond, Berggren all likely due hefty raises, plus Edvinsson and Kasper right around the corner.

Erne is an extra forward. Who cares about him? Sign him or let him walk I’m not bothered. Boston is in a cap crunch, which is why they had to move Smith. He’s a good defensive forward who can play centre or RW. He is good on the PK. None of that really matters unless we add to the RHD. Mo can’t be our only option. Seth Jones is a good player on an AHL team. He’s not OEL. He’s not even 30 yet. He is the kind of RHD who can put up significant minutes. Him and Mo combined would play most of a game. Bedard and Larkin down the middle, Mo and Jones on the right with what we have coming up for LHD, combined with Raymond, Perron, Kubalik, and Duclair on the wings means all we need is for Husso to be the guy and this team is ahead of everyone in our division within 3 years time except maybe Tampa. Boston will fade in a couple years due to attrition of time, Toronto is going no where and probably losing Matthews, and the rest of the division aside from Buffalo and Ottawa aren’t going to compete within 2-3 years time. The Habs are years behind in their rebuild and Florida has no future.

6.5 mil for a scorer who puts up 50-60 points? I'd take him in a heartbeat. Only concern I'd have is health. Seider and Raymond will get taken care of there's plenty of space.

You have to sign an entire line worth of forward and about 3 more defenceman.

They have well over 11M to spend during the summer and the biggest guy to resign is Gudas. They'll be fine, lol

Gudas and one garikov severson or another like so d man. Plus bottom depth guys. That seems just fine to me. No reason to dump a cheap 30 goal scorer for nothing.

Detroit had the worst record in the NHL and couldn't land Alexis Lafreniere, Detroit's not getting Connor Bedard.

And pass on Seth Jones, He's grossly overpaid and noway is he getting that kind of return back from Yzerman.

Carrier's a solid 2nd pair RD. That's a pretty underwhelming return for him. NSH declines.

Does the fact that you don’t have a 1st rounder for like a decade not concern you? It’s different if you’re Tampa but your team isn’t even getting out of the first round. Wouldn’t it be wiser to actually accumulate some picks while you still have Barkov and Tkachuk at a young enough age where you don’t have to go to win now mode?

I would only go for Jones in a scenario where we are getting a superstar centre on an ELC for 3 years. If we do not win the lottery (and we almost certainly won’t) we should look to trade our 1st for a centre or RHD that moves this team into a postseason team. We’ve been rebuilding for a while now and I’d rather take a run at a home run trade and avoid repeating my childhood in the 70s and 80s where we won one playoff series.

Not having a 1st rounder does concern me a bit, yeah. But receiving a 2nd rounder for a 30-goal scorer does not solve that problem. The chances of that 2nd becoming anything more valuable than Duclair are very slim.

And as said, with so much cap space for the summer, the 23-24 Panthers will be vastly better than this season. (Provided they kick Maurice tf out grin) They can add a top4 defenseman and more without giving up assets.
