Helly trade offers

Description
Assuming Chevy does his job and knows by June pre-draft that Helly won't, or most likely won't resign with the Jets he has to start entertaining trades for him....I'm not sure we've seen a goalie of the caliber traded in the cap era, so few comparables, here are the offers.
Transactions
1.
WPG
  1. Edvinsson, Simon
  2. Husso, Ville
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (NYI)
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
The Athletic has Edvinsson as the 5th best prospect in hockey, although Husso has a NMC, the Wings can easily bury him in the minors if he didnt accept this. Both picks although 1sts aren't lottery risks, possible the Jets would even ask for the Wings 24 1st instead of the Bruins.
DET
    For Helly
    2.
    WPG
    1. Comrie, Eric
    2. Savoie, Matthew
    3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (BUF)
    4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (BUF)
    Détails additionnels:
Jet's need someone manning the crease, Comrie comes back again. Savoie is the Athletic's 10th best NHL propsect
    BUF
      for Helly
      3.
      WPG
      1. Jarvis, Seth
      2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (CAR)
      3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (PHI)
      4. Choix de 4e ronde en 2024 (CAR)
      Détails additionnels:
Jets take a bit less in the one with an already established Jarvis coming back in return
      CAR
        for Helly
        4.
        WPG
        1. Anderson-Dolan, Jaret [Droits de RFA]
        2. Clarke, Brandt
        3. Petersen, Cal
        4. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (LAK)
        5. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (LAK)
        Détails additionnels:
Petersen's alternative is a buyout or being in the AHL, so accepting a trade to Wpg instead is enough to waive the NMC, Clarke is the Athletic's 6th best NHL prospect, Jets have a high need in rebuilding the right side D. I added JAD but its, possible Jet's get even more for taking on the Petersen contract.
        LAK
          for Helly
          5.
          WPG

          3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (NJD)
          4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (NJD)
          Détails additionnels:
Nemec is the Athletics 5th best prospect, Blackwood has little value but again the Jets will needs a goalie.

But we can bring him home by giving up a future top defensemen, a good goalie, and two possibly B-tiered prospects!

lol amazing. And then next year when he wants out or a massive extension SY gets the honor of dealing him as well.

A steal of a deal if you ask me.
I think we should do this and then trade Cossa for a 5th.

Nobody is going to trade this much for a goalie with one year left on their deal and no guarantee of an extension.

The closest recent comp would be the Darcy Kuemper trade. The 3 years before he was traded to Colorado, Kuemper had a .922 SV% and 2.35 GAA with a pair of top-7 Vezina finishes. He was 31 years old at the time of the trade, with 1 more year at $4.5M left on his deal. Arizona retained him down to $3.5M and got back a 1st, a conditional 3rd, and Connor Timmins - the 3rd's conditions were contingent on the Avs winning the Cup and Kuemper starting 50% of the games, so I'm sure Colorado was happy to have it convey.

Helle's last 3 years are .916 with a 2.72 GAA, and a top-4 Vezina finish (his Vezina win was now 4 seasons ago, which should remind us how cruel the march of time can be.) He'll be 30 years old and have one year left with a $6.17M AAV. In his last 3 seasons he's won as many playoff series as Kuemper did in Arizona - one. I get that his overall career track is stronger than Kuemper's, but his major successes are all 4+ years ago at this point.

I just don't see a world where teams are going to give up multiple premium assets for one year of a goalie where there's really no track record of things like that happening. Goalies are voodoo man, GMs aren't going to make big gambles like that.

Let's assume its not one year and they use their 10's of millions of cap space on Helly, and they are very very close to being a contender. Again, we havent seen a blue chip goalie traded since Cory Schneider was dealt, and that was for the 8th overall pick at the draft. And he wasn't close to Helly's level.

And Corey Schneider was 26, not 30
Hellebuyck will be 31 at the end of his current contract
NO ONE is going to give up the kind of assets you want for
            ONE YEAR of a goalie
Most teams won’t even wanna give him a next contract at his age- not the long one at a big cap hit that he’ll demand

There might be a couple who would,
but being that it’s likely such a low number,
they likely just wait till he becomes UFA so they don’t have to give up some absurd package of assets to sign a goalie to play into his late30s

The return you want for him is TOTALLY ABSURD,
and there’s ZERO CHANCE u get anything close to this

You’re living in a dream world & not considering the other team in these proposed deals at all

I agree. I'm not at all a fan of paying big for a goalie. Two firsts plus savoie is a price where, somebody else is gonna get him.

If we trade anyone else I don't think it's going to be a big one.
In my opinion, it's (in order):
            VERY POSSIBLE
            Sunqvist, and Suter
            UNLIKELY
Kubalik, Zadina, Veleno, Vrana, Rasmussen, Fabbri, Copp, Chiarot (sadly), Lindstrom, and Hagg

            others are untouchable.

I could see Suter being dealt and being the last retention slot, or DET at this point may be the third party retention center. Sunny I could see but its tough to see both of them being moved.
            - Kuba and Perron probably are next year's movers.
            - Zadina/Vrana/Lindstrom have until the end of the season to allow SY to re-evaluate them.
            - Veleno/Ras/Fabbri/Copp/Chiarot I don't see moving.
            - Hagg, Erne, and Oesterle are gone

The cost and where he goes depends on who are goalie will be.

Carolina would be my choice, but I'd take out the second and add Kochetkov and that would work.

Canes wouldn’t be moving Jarvis, first of all, and there is an even lower likelihood that Koochie gets moved. If the Canes really want Helly, they can just wait until he hits UFA and take a run at him then.

Sweet baby Jesus these are bad. Huge overpay. If Helly hasn’t committed to re-upping next summer, I expect/hope that Chevy would move him at the draft. There would be a bidding war, but nothing like you have here.

This is a wild take. Those two firsts with Helly will be 20th-25th at best.

You imagine if this team had even average goaltending this year? Now imagine it with a freaking vezina tender. The age curve for goalies is way different than skaters.

I guess I would need that extension done ahead of time. I need to know exactly what kind of term and salary I'm committing to before I go throwing around two firsts and my best prospect. The 2023 first also could be out of the playoffs since this is being proposed as a summertime trade not tomorrow. That leaves us riding our current goaltending through the end of the season. If I had my choice of a big package for Saros tomorrow or Helly in the summer with the contract unknowns, I'm taking Saros tomorrow.

Helle should probably win the Vezina this year, he's looked better then ever this season.

Oh, he's definitely been good, but barring something completely unexpected, it's Ullmark's Vezina this year. I think the top 3 will be something like Ullmark - Hellebuyck-Sorokin, with Filip Gustavsson, Jake Oettinger, and Vasilevskiy getting some votes too.

Has Gustavsson been that good? I remember thinking the Sens were crazy to trade him for overrated Talbot.

Anywho I'm not a big Helle fan but those teams have much better D cores and defensive structure then the Jets have, it will probably go to Ullmark though.

Who votes for the Vezina winner?

GMs, so probably gonna be judged by SV%, GAA and wins. Congrats to Linus Ullmark!

Gustavsson has been surprisingly good - I caught him against the Islanders on Tuesday and he was a brick wall. He's got 26 starts this year and has put up a .930 and 2.06 GAA - he's gonna be a nice bridge from MAF to Jesper Wallstedt when Minnesota's ready for that.
