Im an islanders fan and im angry. I get that players cant be with their franchise forever. Like Kane was bound to leave. But dont ship out the best goalie your franchise has ever had as soon as the team starts contending again after a 5 year rebuild. I dont get it.

But that's like if Tampa goes into a rebuild with Vasy (if he was your heart and soul player) there and then 5 years later, trading Vasy when you're ready to make a run. I do like making hockey moves, but this is how you get a fanbase to turn on you

If you don't want to be dumped as a 37 year old goaltender, don't sign a contract for that length of time, with a significant cap hit, without movement protection.

GM is trying to win a cup, not friends.
You don't blindside a player like that of course.
A little class and respect isn't too much to ask.

Quick hasn't been good for like 4-5 years now and has been one of the worst goalies in the NHL this season.

Didn't know you are in L.A. I'm in Beachwood Canyon.

Well, I was wrong -- horribly wrong -- about two things I took for granted: (1) Blake wouldn't trade our 2023 first-round draft pick; and (2) Blake wouldn't trade Jonathan Quick.

My response to every ACGM I saw suggesting a deal involving our 2023 first was, in essence, no way we're giving that up after trading our 2022 first in the Fiala deal, given the strength and depth of this pool.

My response to every ACGM I saw suggesting a Quick trade was, in essence, no way we're trading our franchise icon in the last year of his contract just before raising his sweater into the rafters.

On the (dimly) bright side, we got Gavrikov and Korpisalo for the rumored asking price of Gavrikov alone, so I suppose there's something positive here. But I would have much rather traded some of our young prospects and 2024 pick instead -- kind of a re-allocation of assets. I would have much preferred to give the Blue Jackets the same third, our 2024 first, two A prospects and Sean Walker to make the money come out than this lesser expense.

What I'm hoping for is that this is just the first step in a multi-faceted strategic plan.

it doesnt matter lol. Im not saying he should start or backup. you just shouldnt exile him to Ohio after all he has done for them. There needs to be some loyalty in this game lol.

Again Quick has been bad for 4-5 years and the Kings stuck with him. Is that not loyalty? Why didn't Quick just retire, forfeit his remaining salary and provide the Kings with cap relief? why is the loyalty only have to come from the Kings. He won them cups 9-12 years ago. Maybe Quick's agent should have made sure to have a NMC in his contract so this didn't happen.

I couldn't help but be reminded of Toronto in 2008 when we were all angry at Sundin, Tucker, McCabe, Kaberle and Kubina (the Muskoka 5), for refusing to waive their NTC so we could unceremoniously ship them out and how opposite a reaction it is in LA right now over Quick

same with most of those old Toronto guys....I guess just shows our lack of loyalty...or desperation
