Oi vey... setting aside that on ice analytics account for all six players on the ice and not just one, the entire basis of these xG stats is far from perfect. Dude spent 2-3 months as a passenger dragging down O'Reilly and benefiting from the defensive play of others. Meanwhile, O'Reilly has been getting slammed for his analytic numbers all year. Gosh, if you just look at analytic rates (which don't pretend to account for several relevant factors, such as volume or usage or individual plays like zone exits), one might think Leivo had been a much better player than O'Reilly this season. Which is purely nuts.

Barbashev was probably the team's best defensive forward this season, with Buch and maybe Saad in the running. Leivo was adequate defensively at absolute best. His analytics have gotten a big boost from playing a lot on lines that forecheck well and burn clock in the other team's corners. His best "defensive" contributions have been keeping up the cycle well enough.

What we need for the playoffs

Had my eye on him since we played them, i think he'd make a hell of an underrated pickup, its such a Fitzy move. I dont know if Nashville wants to move him though but who knows its seems like anyone not named Josi, Forsberg or Saros might be up for grabs

With the haul they got for Jeannot the ask is not worth it to us. Maybe Fitz has some m6ire magic though!

Difference is he hasnt been mentioned as being on the block, who knows maybe Nashville wants to hold onto him, new management coming in soon though, might want their own guys in there so we might have a chance there if they dont think he'll be a part of their future
