It’s hard to bring in more offensive talent with 14m+ in dead cap. The idea is to give more chances for the young core to produce.

i wouldn’t consider 22pts on the year to be “NO value whatsoever”. He could be a cheap middle 6 scoring option.

He got points playing with Kaprizov and Zuccarello for a couple months, then just got in their way for another month… He has one, and only one NHL-level skill and that is skating. He’s barely (if he even is) an AHL talent in any other category! His hands are especially brutal!

I think when it comes to trying to sign these guys, the Gus deal is a great idea. The Addy extension seems like a risky, premature move. Especially with uncertainty that he'll actually be in Minnesota longterm. I think it'd make sense to try and match the Sandin extension with him. However, if this the plan and if there is no real offensive talent around Rossi, and Freddy does resign, you should sell on Hartman for what would likely be a very nice return and run

I love Dewar but he hasn't shown really anything offensively and Beckman looked good in that spot imo

I would not sell Hartman at all. 65pts last season and doing fairly decent this season, making only 1.7m and can play anywhere in the lineup isn’t a player I’m keen on moving.

Rossi will be getting another shot next season, but what if he doesn’t pan out? There’s a chance you move Hartman to replace him with Rossi, and Rossi ends up sucking.

It’d be better to shelter Rossi’s minutes as he continues to develop, give him chances to succeed without throwing him on the first line with a bunch of pressure to produce.

The Addison move is risky, but assuming he develops into a top 4 PP specialist, you’d have to pay him eventually. Maybe you can bump the contract to a bridge at 3-4m?
