Description
Trade was burns and a 2nd for setoguchi, Charlie coyle (top 75 prospect), and a 1st. Going to assume there’s going to be salary matching so no 2nd

Chychrun: 24yo 373gp 60 goals 110 assists 170 points. High of 10th in Norris voting
Burns: 24yo 453gp 55 goals 128 assists 183 points. High of 12th in the Norris

Setoguchi: 24yo 267 gp 84 goals 75 assists 159 points
Vilardi: 23yo 134gp 35 goals 33 assists 68 points

Coyle hadn’t broken in yet, top 75 prospect, same as Spence

That’s the framework of the deal. Extremely comparable. If LA isn’t interested move along.

Then move along. Going to have to give to get, I posted the comp, if LA’s 3rd line RW isn’t on the table then it’s pointless engaging

If the Kings are giving up Vilardi, then it's going to be Vilardi + 2nd for Chychrun. Vilardi is not just a "first round equivalent" asset any longer.

I will happily move along if that's what they're asking for.

Setoguchi was 24 with 3 of 4 seasons 20+ goals, he was more valuable than vilardi. The comp is pretty firm across the board.

Vilardi has had to overcome significant injury issues, and is now in the middle of his breakout season. Before he went down with his current injury, he was the Kings leading goal scorer. If you think that's roughly equivalent in value to a 1st round pick with no NHL experience, then I don't know what to tell you. There's no way the Kings are interested in your deal.

Swap the 2023 1st for 2024, Vilardi for Turcotte, and Spence for Durzi or Grans and the Kings will probably do it. Otherwise Arizona is welcome to keep him. Once his NTC kicks in, his value is going to cut in half.

As my esteemed friend @tkecanuck341 says, 2024 first, Alex Turcotte, Sean Durzi or Helge Grans, plus Sean Walker to make the math more comfortable and give you losers another NHL-qualified defenseman, or you can move along. Take one of those other offers that have obviously been pouring in.

Another factor that’s overlooked here is this.. that burns trade was when he needed an extension not with multi season term. Also his contract extension would be the equivalent to 7.25M/ today. While Chych is 4.6M. So the deal should actually have more going to ARZ if we are basing it on the burns deal

I'd argue that Burns was a better defenseman than Chychrun was at the time, had no injury issues, and hadn't asked to be moved.

I'd also argue that Vilardi is significantly better than Setoguchi was, as the latter was trending downward after having a breakout seasons 2 years prior, while Vilardi is trending upwards, finally looking like that top 5 talent that scouts projected him to be prior to the draft.

I think that Spence is a better prospect than Coyle, but I'll concede the point that they're roughly equivalent in value.

I'll say it again, LA has no interest in a trade with a 1st + Vilardi going back. Honestly, drop Spence and throw in Vejmelka and still no.

Chychruns numbers are better and that’s dealing with injuries. He’s the better Dman. Vilardi, I’ll take your word for thought. But the counter offer you mentioned was a nice package and I don’t see how that’s not accepted
