Tbh I don’t even know about that. Parayko has the edge over Weegar when it comes to injuries. Other than that, very similar but Weegar is a bit better

From CGY’s perspective, if they value Parayko over Weeger then the proposed deal means they pay only a 2nd to do it - so I did bake in that this is quite … lateral. The 2nd maybe too much tbh, but that depends on the value given to each player.

Would probably make most since to leave Calgary out. Unless the issue has to do with Paraykos NMC. Blues ultimately would need a RD back that’s capable of eating some minutes for better or worse. Would be a good opportunity for Zaitsev to be dumped. Although, I just don’t know if Aemy would consider the 2 season dump to make us much worse

Weegar is better than Parayko by a lot, why would CGY add to make it happen?

In my opinion they fill different roles. Parayko has multiple seasons of 23 min average time on ice, continues to trend to defensive zone starts, apart from 1 season he’s been in the lineup basically every game including a full season worth of playoff games, and rarely takes penalties.

He fills the role of stay at home defenseman who can also move the puck.

If a team needed that, and he were available, that’s the reason for the proposal.
