You absolutely need more for Kane. 1 late first is not enough. I don't think Bertuzzi is worth it. I like the Duclair move tho.

Bertuzzi had injury issues. When healthy and on his game he is exactly what the Leafs need in the top six. I'd prefer the Leafs give Bertuzzi a long extension rather than Bunting at this point.

I've seen a lot of these "Duclair to Toronto" trades from Leafs threads over the past couple of days, and I'm genuinely curious as to why you think Florida would do it?

Here's why I think that it's extremely unlikely:
-The Panthers and Leafs share a division.
-Florida is currently fighting for a playoff spot.
-Duclair being activated from LTIR seems like it'll happen any day now...how they'll do it? No idea, but it doesn't seem to be a concern at this point.
-Duclair returning to the lineup is a huge addition for Florida.
-Florida and Toronto play each other 3 (!!!) times during what will likely be a very critical final 12 games for the Panthers.
-Making Toronto a better team for 2 playoff runs with Duclair, in exchange for a couple of fairly meaningless picks seems like an extremely unwise strategy.

You are right, however, injuries are an issue with him and we don't need locker room drama.

Murray will pick up another injury before the trade deadline. That's almost guaranteed.

Maybe $5M for a single season. He has had a rough year and I get wanting to get to get him as cheap as possible but 5X5 thats only $250,000 more than he's making now .

I agree but think I’m on the other side of it.

If I’m a GM there’s no chance I’m giving him 5 years. He can be a super effective and impactful player. He also has an injury history (some are flukey like this year and some have been with his back which is risky long term). He also plays a hard nosed game that doesn’t tend to age well historically in players with similar skill sets.

I’d give him 2x5-6 personally and nothing longer. That’s also assuming he has a great rest of season. If he doesn’t I’d go less than that. I’m sure other teams or GMs would give him a better offer, I just think there’s too much risk involved.

It's OK...as a Ducks fan, I've learned to embrace the pain. Many years of fun hockey have been watched, and many more will (hopefully...) come again soon. It's a shame that your owner is such a donkey though.

It’s a real life comedy, but now we’re starting to add some good players, I think our prospect quality will jump up after this year as were gonna probably have a top 5 and 15 pick. I hope we can win a cup in my lifetime… and I’m 20

Ok this season he was injured twice getting hit twice with wild shots in front of the net. 2 seasons ago he had disc replacement surgery so thats completely not an issue anymore. Before deciding to have the surgery he had 5g - 2a - 7p in 9 games and that was the COVID shortened season so he only missed about 43 games. Then returning from back surgery he put up 30g in 68 games because he wouldn't vax. So a 30g season and 2 21g seasons. It's foolish to think he'd sign 5x5 but I get it you want to get Bertuzzi as cheap as possible and sign him for a few years and can't afford to pay him very much and stay under the cap. So are you being realistic or is this what you are hoping will happen?

I’m being realistic that while he has clear ability he also comes with injury and “other” risk associated with him. Historically, players with back, disc, nerve type issues have those types of things recur. I think it’s foolish to assume that he had a back surgery so it’s a complete non issue anymore. Maybe he’s the unique case and he doesn’t have more back concerns but like I said, whether in athletes or just everyday people, back issues have a high rate of re-injury risk and can lead to other issues down the road.

There are some gms that are less risk averse than others so like I said earlier, maybe he gets a big long term deal but I doubt it comes from the canes or any legit contenders who can’t risk their cap space in that manner long term.
