I have a feeling he'll be closer to the Taylor Hall type of return.

It's possible, but I hope the Hawks don't trade him then.

“If the value’s not met, then you value the player more than anyone else,” Davidson said. “So we’re happy with the players that are here. We value them more than other teams around the league, clearly. We’re happy they’re still with the Blackhawks.” ~Kyle Davidson

that is all well and good that Davidson wants to keep him, but if he really wants to go to a contender and they wont send him do you really think he will stick around after this? its really his decision not Davidson's.

Depends what you mean. It takes 3 to approve a trade. Davidson needs to say yes. Kaner needs to say yes. The other GM needs to say yes. You can't get a trade done unless all 3 say yes. Kaner's NOT likely sticking around after this season regardless of what happens. But that's doesn't even matter at all. Like 0%. This whole...get what you can blah nonsense completely discounts the continued development of your own prospects. In order to properly develop younger guys, you need veterans that have had success.

Patrick Kane holds all the cards in this situation, with his NMC. He decides where he wants to go, so the team won't hold the leverage. Wouldnt be surprised if the return is like a 2nd and mid prospect, and possibly a 4th to a 3rd party team for double retention

Even if a team like TOR has most of the leverage, the bottom line is still absolutely a 1st and a prospect. If they can't do a 1st, the prospect better be pretty damn good and even then it would probably take a little more. And that is just as a bare minimum. Davidson will not move anyone if the minimum ask isn't met. The speculated price of a prospect and a 1st IS THE MINIMUM. Would you go to the grocery store and demand that the cashier let you use the same coupon twice on a single purchase? Because that is essentially what you are doing. All of these variables are already factored into the minimum price for Kane. His price isn't getting lower.

Hes a pending UFA and Toronto has already stated they wont be paying a 1st for a pure rental. If youre in Davidsons shoes, you can either take this 3rd round pick and Nick Robertson or risk ending up losing him for nothing

And It should be an easy choice to go with nothing.

Patrick Kanes value in 2023 is not a 1st round pick, just because you say you want a 1st round pick. Kane is having a down year and his value has been diminished, not to mention the reported hip issue, which sound like the reason NYR backed out. It would be a complete mismanagement of assets not to cash in on Kane. Toronto learned the hard way by letting JVR walk for nothing

This comment is a complete joke. You're saying he's terrible, but at the same time wanting to acquire him as long as the Leafs send nothing to get him...BUT yet again the Hawks can't allow Kaner to walk away for free, but can't get anything for him. shakes head

Let the icon walk away on his own terms if KD can't get true value.

Yep. Exactly. And Davidson walks away. This isn't even remotely worth CHI's time.

No where did i say hes terrible. Actually your team is terrible, and Kane has no motivation to play there, it seems. However, his value is at an all time low and if you think you will be getting a 1st for him, keep dreaming. Unless a stupid team like Edmonton pays up

You're telling me that I'm the one dreaming if I'm expecting Patrick Kane to get equal (or even less than in most of these cases) Ben Chiarot, Andrew Copp, Nick Foligno, David Savard, Kyle Palmeri, JPG, Barclay Goodrow, Bloke Coleman. NONE of these guys are HALF of Patrick Kane and I'm the one dreaming that Kaner can't get a late 1st.
