Yeah. Gotta be PHI's 2nd. But also, Bryson and Portillo are not of interest to CHI.

I don't think the Hawks will get a better offer. I know they are asking for a first but I'm would be shocked if they get it. Bryson would probably be involved because CHI will need roster players to finish the season and eat minutes next season. Portillo was a just a throw in.

Hawks would just keep him if their offer isn’t met.

Good luck with that assumption. But if that is the case, CHI just won't trade him. They don't need to trade him at all. The only reason to trade him is for an offer they can't refuse.

Chicago would probably trade him for fair value (late first early 2nd) and some other piece but it’s absolutely true they don’t have to move him.

Sure. What I mean is they aren't gonna give discounts and accept lowball offers. Pay the price or don't. Doesn't matter to CHI.

I will not joust with the two of you, but if McCabe's value is a late first, it is one more reason why I felt Adams was incompetant until Karmanos was hired.
He let McCabe ($4,000,000) and Ullmark ($5,000,000) walk for nothing, traded Hall and Montour for a 2nd and 3rd, signed Eakin ($2,250,000 19 pts over two seasons) and did not even talk with Larsson ($1,400,000 21 pts over 43 games last year alone).
I know I may be the only Sabre fan who thinks Adams is way over his head, but I could have made better moves than he did his first year.

McCabe would be a great add on, Power, Samuelson, McCabe playing LHD would certainly improve the defense.
If his price is PHI 2nd, count me out.

Well, that Knee injury was pretty damning. So I don't exactly blame him. After CHI signed him, I thought it was a big mistake, if I'm being perfectly honest. I figured at his age and with that type of injury and surgery, he would never return to that pre injury form. And I think a lot of people felt the same way. But, it would seem that we were all wrong. I have always liked McCabe a lot, though. Also, seeing as he lives in CHI in the offseason, it made sense for his resurgence to be with the Blackhawks. I don't think there are many teams that would've given him the same opportunity at that time.

Thanks for the information, did not know Jake lived in Chicago.
It was shocking that the Hawks did not do better last year.
Adding Fluery, McCabe, Jones, and Jones sure seemed to be enough to make a run at the playofss when a team already had Kane, Toews, Hagel and DeBrincat up front.
But if they can get decent returns for trading Kane and Toews, they should be able to turn it around soon.
With Ullmark and McCabe, Buffalo would not be a bubble team, more likely challenging Tampa for 3rd place.
Adams has a great smile but absolutely no hockey sense.

Yeah. No problemo. He's a Wisconsin native and his wife is from the Chicago suburbs. So, it was already home by default.

Also, yeah, last season was ridiculous for CHI. That was in large part due to coaching, Colliton was an awful choice for head coach and he was SOOOOO stubborn about his systems being viable. Also, all the zero attention span trades Bowman made over the years didn't help. Seems like he never even considered acquiring players based on any sort of style or vision. So, it was a bunch of good players who had no chemistry with each other, playing awful offensive and defensive structures. And then the whole scandal coming out and the coaching change and everything just snowballed.

But I think if CHI was going to rebuild, now is the time to do it. Could've maybe squeezed one more playoff run out of that roster, but they still would have had a depleted prospect pool and no picks. So, it makes sense to be doing it now. Plus, the 2023, 2024, and 2025 drafts should be full of talent. CHI will be fine as long as Davidson is as competent as he seems to be so far. Even if he sucks at trade negotiations, as long as he sticks to his guns on drafting and developing and steers clear of trade proposals with red flags, we should be fine.
