I love the idea but I believe that BUF needs to have money going out (preferably JS53 if any team is dumb enough to take that contract, maybe throw in a pick to sweeten it) if they do the Meier deal. 9M added to the cap and then having to re-sign RD26 (8y x 9.5M), OP25 (7y x 8M) is going to throw a wrench in it. Plus down the road you have JQ22 JP77 and any of the top 4 prospects down in Rochester of which probably/hopefully 2 of them will demand big deals down the road.

He’s getting $3.1 million this year for his 15 points thus far. Excuse me for being off by .1. Nobody should be paying a fourth line winger $3 million a season. If he were in Buffalo, that’s probably where he’d be. If anyone is dumb enough to give up a second round pick for a 4th liner making in excess of $3 million, you should make that trade already.

Have you noticed you’re the only person who gives a crap about three of the four things? In Buffalo he would probably be on the fourth line, and they should definitely not be paying a fourth line player $3 million. Like I said, previously, if you can really get a second round pick from somebody for him, you better do it before they get smart enough to realize that’s a terrible idea. Even the latest of the three second round picks Buffalo currently holds would be an overpayment for him if there is no salary retention. I have my doubts Minnesota has any intention of trading him. But if they do, I would be absolutely shocked if they managed to get a second round pick from anyone without having to retain salary, or include something else of value on their side.
