Sharks fans will disagree but I have a very hard time seeing Meier getting both a 1st AND Holtz in return.
There aren't really any valid comparables for a winger getting that much back.
Also, I don't really see the point in getting Bonino in, I'd rather play Boqvist or Bastian in the lineup over him.

These returns are a lot more reasonable for a guy like Meier:

Also would like to add that I heard that NJD GM apparently asked for SJS to report back to them their best offer for Timo. As in a chance to have the final say (to out bid or not), if that is so probably an overpay isn't entirely out of the question (but not this much, then that I made)

I'm hopeful that CAR jumps into the mix. The SJS don't have any good defensive prospects. The Canes have a more than most. Not saying "The hockey writers" is gospel, but it's a start. The Canes have 3 prospects in the top 100 prospects and they're all Dmen. The SJS have two and they're forwards. I'm hopeful the GM of the Canes...Waddell sends a 1st, Nikishin, and Heimosalmi for Meier.

Counterpoint: I don't think San Jose has any incentive to trade him without multiple high-end pieces coming back. And tbh, the Devils 1st rounder (while an impact piece), is not a starting point in a Meier trade, it's an add. I can't see him going for anything less than Holtz+1st+lesser piece.

Not to say I think the devils D prospects are better but I believe we have 4 in the top 100 in Luke, Nemec, Casey, and Mukhammaduhlin

Are you willing to trade away Luke Hughes or Simon Nemec? It'll take one of them for sure.

CAR does. Nikishin has 50 points in 59 games in the KHL. That league is much harder the NCAA or AHL. He's at least equivalent as of today.
