If Hani is willing to sign that extension Calgary should 100% keep him. He would have to refuse to want to re-sign with the Flames to be made available

How has Krug looked this year? Stylistically he isn't a great fit for Philly, but for that package I think the Flyers would at least consider it

This has easily been his weakest season in STL.

I think Noah Hanifin is very very good but the defense in general is still awful, and replacing O'Reilly and Tarasenko with Compher and Kerfoot is a pretty significant step back from an already medicore forward group. This is not a competitive team. If this is the best they can do to retool, they'd be better off just not trying to compete for another season. Sell Barbashev and dump Krug if you can, and use those draft picks to build a good prospect system and to target young defensemen on the outs over flashier names.

This whole glut of moves is terrible for the Blues.

That is a horrible price to pay to dump Krug if you’re retaining 2m.

He’s not been great. But he’s our only defenseman that is capable of providing offense or springing our forwards who seem to play off the rush now.

I like Hanifin. But adding him at the cost of Krug, 24 2nd, 25 2nd, And Tarasenko, and 2m in cap for the remainder of Krugs contract would be devastating.

We’re better off taking BPA with our pick and taking a shot on one of the d men who will probably be available later in the draft to mould while we ride out some years on Krug, Saad, Leddy, Scandella and Binner. Those players should be much more movable at that point and hopefully by that stage Neighbors is an every day contributor as a middle 6er, Schenn can be pushed down to the 3rd line and Thomas and Kyrou have had enough time to remove some of their mistakes in their game. Not sure what happens to Parayko in that time frame.
