I think the fact that the Rangers COULD have drafted him but didn't might give him pause about signing with an organization that clearly didn't think too highly of him. But sure, have fun trying to sign 30 year old UFA Zegras in nine seasons.

They moved him at the deadline and he was pissed about that choice. Had he re-signed in dallas it would've changed the rangers return. Alot of reports at the time he signed with minny were that he liked dallas, but a big enough factor was that he didnt want the rangers to get more from moving him.

I'd be naive to think he wouldn't take an 8-year deal of course but I'm certainly optimistic lol
