1. Too much.
2. Having Matt freaking grzelcyk as a healthy scratch makes no sense.

CHI might accept. I would prefer keeping Lafferty around. I think he has a chance of being worth quite a bit more as a rental next year if he takes some steps with an increased role. I'd also prefer not to take on Smith's contract for so little. But we'll see...

Lafferty for Smith is a lateral move... doesn't make them better, doesn't make then worse.

CHI: remove this years 3rd
AZ: Definitely not moving both Lohrei AND Lysell AND 2 1sts, maybe Lohrei + this years 1st + griz
would also be nice to get Crouse

That "offer" is not even remotely close for Acciari. No chance the Blues take back your cap dump, and even if you remove Reilly it's a pitiful package.

This is 3 picks for a bottom 6 forward and taking back an expiring contract. Hard to imagine anyone paying this much for Sam Lafferty.

Going off the top of my head, I thought Smith had a year or two left beyond this season, which most of this offer would have been paying for. Seeing as Smith's is a UFA at the end of this season, taking on his contract is of little consequence. This is probably fair, but even still, I think this would be selling low on Lafferty. If CHI hands him a larger role after the deadline and into next season, I see a player who can reach another level and possibly bring back something more significant in trade. I see someone whom, at this price, could be a sneaky good pickup for another team, and people would be saying "we fleeced CHI" in the not too distant future.

He is very popular right now, so a 23 3rd straight up could do it. Of course, someone could also easily come in with a higher 3rd.

I disagree, not only does it clear cap space Lafferty is more of a Nosek upgrade than anything. Does everything Nosek does slightly better and alittle younger.

I look at it as a pick to take on Smith and 2 3rds for an underrated bottom 6 depth piece which I think is a fair price.

I am trying to find a deal that will not only be competitive and likely win Chychrun, but of the last 10 cup winners there has only been 1 roster player traded at the deadline by a winning team therefore I tried to avoid including one like Grz.

So a straight up 3rd could do it but a 3rd, 4th and a player that if we are being honest is a viable NHL defenseman for the Blues rn with injuries etc isn’t enough ?

You could arrange the defense however you want maybe bump Cliffton. But I don’t see how having an insanely talented deep defense that still fits the cap is a negative.

First of all, let's get it straight that Reilly does more damage to this offer than help. It would cost to take him if they would be willing, which they definitely are not. Including Reilly automatically kills this deal. Secondly, I said a 23 3rd. The Blues are not going to wait around 2 1/2 years for these picks when others are offering 23 picks. Obviously.

I can see where you are coming from I just think a 4th to the Blues for a viable NHL defenseman that the only reason doesn’t play for the Bruins is their top 6 D is stacked. Plus a 3rd for a bottom 6 forward who is older and on an expiring deal isn’t the as unfair as you are making it out to be.

Dude, Reilly has been waived. He's not good and the Blues do not need any more poor D-men. Also, they probably are talking extension with Acciari. And again, the 3rd is three drafts away. Everyone else will offer better picks. It's as simple as that.

Mike Reilly would be in the Blues lineup for the rest of the season if he was dealt. Cracks the top 6 without a thought. Same with the Kings who he was in discussions with over the summer.

Heh. And who pray tell is he going to push to the bench? Not Krug or Leddy. Not Mikkola. Rosen has arguably been the most reliable D-man this season. They have been getting Tucker some seasoning and soon Perunovich should be ready to get back into the swing. That doesn't even count Scandella, who is more suited to and familiar with the Blues system. Honestly, I'm not even sure Reilly gets an AHL game. And none of it matters anyway, because his contract lasting another season makes him supremely unattractive. There is no chance the Blues take Reilly without some crazy overpay.

Scandella is out and Reilly replaces Mikkola without blinking.

Having grzelcyk play the off-side makes no sense. Ditto for forbort.

The point is, chychrun doesn’t move in without grzelcyk moving out. No shot.

Heh. He absolutely does not dislodge Mikkola, and Scandella resumed skating a couple weeks ago. And his 3M cap hit for next season is like a garlic-crusted, sunshine-emitting cross to a vampire. The Blues would run from him for that reason alone.

Also, Reilly's analytics in this tweet are super skewed offensively by his 20-21 season next to Zub and skewed at both ends by his getting to play with McAvoy and Carlo last season. And the guy somehow still finished -1 despite spending almost the whole season with those horses.

His worst season is better than Mikkolas best. Everyone labels Reilly purely off of the fact that he was placed on waivers and not claimed but manage to forget that so many teams are cap constrained and the bruins defense is stacked. Every season that Reilly has played he has better stats than Mikkola including all 3 years before the Bruins.
