Airzona gets back a young top 6 dman who’s proven he can play top 4 mins this season and 1st and 2nd. That’s more than fair. If it was a prospect like Niemela or Robertson then I think 2 1st is fair

I honestly don't know at this point. This is something I would have accepted at the beginning of the year, but now i hear OTHER fan bases say this is too low. I will admit that Seravalli's report is correct in saying the Hawks do like him alot and he's got another year under contract at a really low cap hit.

Sandin and a late 1st doesn't get Chychrun. The 2nd is not enough.

Sandin played top 4 mins this season when Rielly was out and excelled. He’s better than any prospect that Airzona gets back in Chychurun trade.

Sandin has been a top 4 dman in Toronto this year when Rielly has been out and excelled in the role. Getting a 22 top 4 dman and a 1st and 2nd is better than LAK can offer outside of Byfield.

Sandin doesn't have a high enough ceiling. Chychrun is a top pairing D. Arizona doesn't get anything back that is able to fully replace Chycrun. Sandin is a downgrade and he doesn't have the potential to be a top pair D. That leaves the 1st rounder, which will be low to mid 20s. This is a deep draft, but picks at that level take time and are a crapshoot. The 2nd is a lottery ticket picking in the 50s.

Arizona should ask for a higher ceiling prospect, probably Niemela, a 1st, and another lower level prospect that is near NHL ready. Toronto doesn't have that third part (the Leafs don't have any good surplus prospects, or they'd already be on the big club with entry level deals) , so it probably has to be a 2024 1st or Knies. I don't see Toronto doing that.

No, But a 1st + Turcotte + Durzi is better value than what Toronto is offering.

Sandin has top pairing potential. I don’t think you watch him enough. He an extremely smart defenceman and is apart of a top 5 defensive group in the league. His analytics are elite and to take Niemela who hasn’t played a single game over Sandin is quite dumb.

Why would you test your luck on a lottery ball when there’s a top 4 dman LHD that has consistently elevated his play every year and can qb a powerplay.

As someone who watches Niemela his ceiling is about the same as Sandin. Sandin and Niemela have the same weakness which is their average skaters and both possess similar skill sets. Niemela will take longer to arrive as he needs to adjust to the NA ice.

I think LA would offer that, but the current dealbreaker is that LA wants the 1st round pick to be a 2024 1st, not a 2023 1st.
