The retention on McCabe would probably increase that cost. Not much in these deals hurt TOR at all beyond the 1st but you get term in McCabe.

That's honestly the best package STL would get for him, no one is going to pay more than a 2nd round pick, so a good 2nd round talent prospect like Hirvonen and a 3rd for no retention is unreal value.

So the Hawks are giving the Leafs that 3rd for Kokkonen? And taking Holl? Pass. McCabe half retained for the 2023 1st. Hawks will keep their pick. Leafs can keep Holl and Kokkonen

UFA Holl is of absolutely no use to the Black Hawks, and you shouldn't be trading him away anyway. Take him and the Chicago third out and that exchange makes sense for both teams.
