on pace for 20+ goals, plays anywhere in the lineup, can kill penalties and PP2 if you need him, and makes the league minimum. Playing his butt off after getting bought out by Minnesota - and as much as I think the Isles can get a decent return back for him if they move him, I also think he has "Uncle Lou's Secret 35+ NTC" - Lamoriello isn't gonna trade a respected vet like him unless Zach asks to go make a Cup run somewhere.

fair assessment, if he's available he'd be a good add - was more just commenting how he ends up in every leafs acgm recently

He's really reinvented himself since coming to NY - instead of trying to be the star the way he was in Minny, he's become more of a do-everything glue guy. Add in that he's an accomplished veteran making the league minimum who has 37 goals in 105 career playoff GP, and he's basically GM catnip. I agree with the idea that Mayfield is more of a lateral move for the Leafs, and less of a guy they should target, but Parise is a guy who could add solid depth to any contender in the league right now.

As far as around these parts, well we all know that certain parts of every fanbase are prone to getting fixated on certain guys at different times. What was it, only a couple months ago that there were a ton of John Gibson to the Leafs ACGMs?

Looks to me like this offer for Horvat would have EASILY trumped what NYI got Horvat for! A young D +prospect D - both RD. No condition on the 1st. Plus a 2nd and 3rd AND Kerfoot (who could be flipped at the deadline)? Instead of a (so far) disappointing Beauvilier and an F prospect.

Seems to me the Leafs are NOT going to make the moves they should to go all in. AND seems like NYI, despite the add of Horvat are saying - "We are buyers - buuuuuutttt... we do kinda still suck and likely will not make the playoffs."

It doesn’t trump it no. You have the Canucks also giving up Boeser with retention and a 4th.

2023 1st (or Isles 2024 1st) > Leafs 2024 1st
Raty > Niemela
Beauvillier > Kerfoot
Timmins doesn’t make up the difference
